Title: Alternative High Elf Steeds for WHFB?
Post by: Nord on 09 May 2014, 10:00:41 AM
I have a lot of the old metal silver helms from the mid 1990s which I want to use. Lovely models, but the horses they come with are not - some kind of mutated Disney pony experiment I'm afraid. I want an alternative horse to use. I was thinking Perry mounted men at arms steed, though they are unarmoured and ideally I would prefer a barded specimen. Has anyone done this, or can you make any suggestions? Metal or plastic, I don't mind, they just have to be reasonably realistic, roughly 28mm scale and preferably barded.

Pretty sure those perry horse come with armor you can attach. Maybe a little small though

The Fireforge plastic Teutonic & Templar knights and Sergeants at Arms come with horses decked out in the cloth variety, though I'm not sure if you can get them separately.

Mirliton have some potential candidates in their High Elf range, I'm sure a quick word or two and they would be available minus the rider.

What about the 5th edition Bretonnian horses? They'd be GW sized but not quite as massive as the newer horses.

That seems like a better idea. A lot of conventional 28mm ponies won't scale with GW-sized figures.
