Greetings everyone,
Haven't been here in a while...I've been changing course going back to the Crusades. I've started to set up a table in addition to the Civil War table next to it. Last time I was here I put up my medieval church with the scaffolding, here are a few more buildings that I've been working on.

Holy.
Shit.
That is some incredible work. I mean, just those few photos already ranks with some of the very best miniature terrain work I've ever seen.
And that's easily the best use of printed paper texture I've seen. You don't even notice how much of it is printed until you look at the WIP photos.
-
Yeah - I thought opening this thread it'll be one nice little building. Not this.
Having flashbacks to sight, sounds and smells of Europe. Awesome.
-
Stunning! :o :o :o
-
Full of character 8) 8)
cheers
James
-
Brill!! :o Any WIP threads?
-
I thought the first picture was of a real place! This is incredible. More pictures please?
-
I can almost smell the sewerage. Wonderfully 'crumbly' look. I do not like 'starched & Ironed' buildings, especially old/used ones. Please keep posting pictures.
-
Mind. Blown. :o
-
That's beautiful, just beautiful. What a wonderful piece of work, I hope you're really proud.
You've managed to bridge that elusive gap between making a nice model and recreating reality. Words escape me.
-
Yep. Utterly brilliant. Even better than your ACW scenery.
-
Holy.
Shit.
My thoughts exactly. :o
-
Hugely impressive modelling and photography.
-
Mag-f#ck!ng-nificent!
Excuse the language!
-
That is one hell of a town. The detail is fantastic. Love the weathered door.
-
Awesome... reminds me of a village I've ever been to.. thought at first it were pcitures from that village... :o :o
-
Fantastic bit of work. That is SO atmospheric!
-
My Gosh, I thought that the first few photos were pictures of what you were going to try to duplicate. When I realized that they were the actual buildings.....stunning. That is the best diorama work that I think that I have ever seen (and I am not trying to be over dramatic).
-
I want to thank you guys for the great comments...I appreciate them all...AndyM , there are some WIP pics a few pages back in my blog
-
Thanks Capt! I had a wee look, what are you using to achieve that great texture? I can't tell, is it printed card or embossed plastic card covered in plaster?
-
Lovely :-* :-* :-* :-* :-* :-*
-
Wow!!!! That's all I can say. It has the quality that I haven't seen before.
-
Andy, first thing I lay down is a single sheet of whatever brick your using, then I cut out pieces of the next sheet and glue them in different spots on the first sheet, then I use spackling compound and feather in the edges of the top layer
and wipe off the excess compound. one other thing I forgot to mention...the top layer of brick has to be glue on a piece of cardboard then glue to the first layer.
-
The close up image of the rotting door just kills me. There's so much in that - colour, texture, layering, lighting...
-
Thanks Capt!
-
Wow. !!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!
-
Fantastic - very atmospheric.
Thanks for posting the images.

:o :o :o Very impressive, thank you for sharing.
Street lights give a 19th century feeling.
-
:-* :-* :-*WOW!!
-
You could be forgiven for thinking you are looking at a film set, you are a seriously talented guy. You are combining artistry, practical skills, lighting , camera work , I stand in awe and thank you for posting , these sort of posts make this forum great.
-
Words fail me. Wonderful. Memories of rural French walled towns and villages flooding my thoughts now....
-
Fan bloody tastic that's some of the best modelling I've seen. :o
-
That is incredible! :o Seriously, every single compliment you're receiving in this thread is WELL deserved, it looks awesome.
-
Wow... the attention to detail is fantastic, is this a table you have made to play games on or is it some sort of commission for a museum?
-
Again I'd like to thank all of you for all the comments...Jeff, I just recently took an interest in the Crusades. I have a Civil War table thats 30 feet x 3 feet and Its looking like this might be going the same way, maybe not as big. I do this to see how realistic I can make something look.

Another brilliant detail masterpiece!!
