Title: 15mm carthaginians
Post by: Turbo-Ben on May 23, 2014, 01:33:04 PM
In the Ancients painting club I posted two pics of the 15mm elephants from my growing carthaginian army. Since I had the chance to play with them at the last weekend I decided to paint some more minis, a unit of spanish cavalry and my camp element:

Nice work. I like the camp, nice tones with the right amount of bright colours to set it off.

Nice work there and a good job on the freehand shields.
I also like the Corvus Belli figures, IMO the best 15mm Carthaginians around.

Thanks guys!

I think I didn't post pics of the rest of the army before (except the elephants) so here's an older groupshot of the whole bunch Ipainted till now!

The camp and cavalry are missing, as are two bases of heavy infantry (roman style) that I painted after the photo!

I think hand painted shields are much better than transfers and yours are superb, definitely something to aspire to

Thanks a lot!

I will have to add another minimum of 8 bases of gauls, 4 bases numidian light horse and another 8 bases of heavy cavalry (gauls and celtiberians) plus another two elephants... so there's still a lot to do! (Some not-shocktroop medium infantry would also be good...)

But as I really like the feeling of big battles FoG gives, I think they will come sooner or later! ;)

I just 'finished' this long time project!

Of course there are still figures I could paint in the box, but thats all that was planned for the FoG army when I first decided to build it (and a bit more).

Lovely stuff. You'll find you'll want all 18 of the veterans with Roman equipment - I only see 6 :P

Thanks!

I don't think i'll use the veterans. In my army they are just normal African spearmen. This army focuse uon the heavy and light  cavalry, and the medium foot and elephants for the bad going, so too much heavy infantry wouldn't work in this case I think.

I have models for another two bases though and will paint them sometime, so there are only ten missing then! ;D

Beautiful army. All the units work well together and have a continous style and look to them.

Thank you two!

Beautiful army. All the units work well together and have a continous style and look to them.

I'm quite happy about that, after about two years time and long interruptions between the single units.
It's also something I don't like when you see other armies with at least 3-4 different base designs and models from 10 different painters, but with 15mm gamers its very common.
