Hello Folks,
I am a long time lurker of this forum. In awe of the many, many talented artists that frequent here. I am currently starting this slow moving project and would love any feedback you may have for me.
cheers

Some really nice and WELL painted vintage orcs :-* Waiting to see the orcs with the painted bases too ;)
-
Brilliant stuff.
That's proper Orc painting that is. The little dot of light in the pupil really adds a lot of life to them as well. Any secret as to how it's done? Or just a tiny brush and steady hand?
-
Top notch painting Sir.

The Lads in Green look FANTASTIC. Your LOVELY brushwork has brought out all the abundant character of the minis. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Love those old orcs :-*
-
They look fantastic! Great job!
If I can ask, where are the dwarven statues in the background from?
-
Indeed. Good stuff. 8)

Great paint jobs, very 'orcy'
-
These are magnificent orcs!

I like the way you've painted the metal parts. The weapons look worn in a suitable orcish manner. Well done.
-
Very very nice! I look forward to seeing progress in this excellent project.

Great collection!
Very nice paintjobs!
Clean but also rugged looking.

Thanks for the very positive responses everyone! Very gratifying.
@ Katsuhiko: ;) I know, I know. I usually do bases at the end once the whole unit is finished.
@ Cubs: I did not paint that effect. I hadn't noticed it until you mentioned it. I think it is some reflected glare from the flash I used. In person, I think these little buggers look extraordinarily alive (it's the quality put into the sculpting).
@ Kyusumu: the statues came from a Desolation of Smaug DVD pack (as bookends) that you can probably still get on Amazon or Ebay. They are getting expensive at this point though & I heard the quality of some of these was not good. Mine were fine. My primary army is a dwarven one so I considered them a must-have when I first saw them online.
I have a large unit of Kevin Adam's Gobbos that I will turn to eventually. I am currently undecided what color scheme to go with for them though (don't think I want to go lighter with this color run -too bright for me). Any suggestions? My painting mentor thinks I should just stick with the same run but I keep thinking I might want to try something different (a brownish-yellow run or something else). Again, any suggestions?
thanks again everyone-

Great collection of orcs, and great brushwork, but who is that white guy hiding among the greenskins?

Nooo! Rookie mistake ... always take credit! They look great, no matter.

I had the brownish-yellow runs a couple of times and it was very unpleasant. Jeez, I hardly got a wink of sleep for two nights in a row.
Having said that, I think a couple of skintone varieties can only be a good thing. Maybe give the original old red-brown orc skin a try, too?

Well done! The leather looks real. More!

Very nice painting on some great miniatures!

Old skool Orcs always make me smile! These are just great! I love the rusty looking metals...
