Title: Rooftops and chimneys added to the alley

Greetings everyone,
Adding the roof to the alley was the next step, after this I'll probably add the fronts of the buildings, here are a few pics.

Wow!  That is magic!  I love LED's on terrain.  How did you do the brick work?

Absolutely amazing. Seeing this in the beginning phase from images on your blog astounds me!

Could you share the source of the brick textures you use?

Also I'd love a more detailed explanation of how you achieve the eye popping brickwork, combining paper with 3-dimensional bits.

Guys thanks for the comments...the main question I get is how I do the brick... I'm going to give you a brief descrition in how its done. First , go to the computer and plug in images of ancient brick walls, key word is ancient, if you just put in brick walls you will get alot of new variations. ancient brick walls will give you about 500 different kinds of bricked walls. The way I do it is to pick a pattern thats got a lot going on. Size is important , because the size of the brick has to match the scale miniatures that you are using. In my case I'm using 25-28mm figures. The size of the sheet of brick will be 3 inches by 3 inches and I can get 9 up on a full sheet. .this alleyway is 3 feet long so you know at 3x3 I'm going to need alot of sheets. The only kind of glue I use for this is white glue, because It dries clear, Each 3x3 piece has to be overlapped. Now you just cant overlap the sheets because you will have a line where you overlapped it, What you do is tear off a tiny strip right to left on the piece you are putting on next, You will no longer have a line and it will feather right in with the previous piece. To get even more dimensional paste a section of the brick on a piece of card and paste that in random areas on your overall surface, then use spackling compound and build up the edge of the small pieces that you are putting on top of the first piece . Next dab some india ink on the spackling and wipe off any excess. This will make the spackling look like old mortar. Now all you have to do is repeat this process about a 100 times and you will have an old looking brick wall...hope this helps

What is spackling compound ? Is it like polyfilla??

Spackling compound is used to fill small cracks in walls

Excellent work Frank...your houses are outstanding, color and woodwork, and the brick....the brick looks real.
