Rather than have lots of different threads about the builds for the Medieval village for my Robin Hood Adventures, I'll just keep adding to this one.
**************
Painted and based an old resin haystack that's been in my 'to do' box for years. Unsure who the manufacturer is unfortunately as I'd like another one.
Primed and based on 2mm mdf

finished with a oil paint wash and a few coats of dry-brushed Foundry canvas colour. Loose straw on the base are fibres cut from coir doormat. Total time spent about an hour and a half (excluding drying times between each stage)

Looks great
:D

This is lovely. Hugely versatile. I meant a couple myself now :D
Great job fella

I think the Haystack is from John Jenkins Design. I have that one plus a smaller version. I like how you have based it.
-
Looks great!
:-*
Seriously versatile, I must have some myself.

Is Robin hiding in there somewhere?
:D

Great painting and basing.
Sure looks like the JJD ones http://www.johnjenkinsdesigns.com/JVB04.htm (http://www.johnjenkinsdesigns.com/JVB04.htm) from the Japanese Building range - currently out of stock though :'(
-
Really nice!

It is one of the JJD ones that you linked, I googled it after Dan suggested it earlier. I'm going to order a set now I know there are other versions so I've mailed to ask about the stock levels.

:D
Of course not, he's in the woods lol

Rather good.

Excellent, look forward to setting fire to it with my Brits!

Looks good enough to have a roll in. :)

That's how you find the needle.

Added an animal pen and some more haystacks:
Started with the very versatile Rendra wattle fencing on a 2mm MDF base and added a polystyrene former for the building
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/18/1512_07_07_14_7_22_06_0.jpg)
Double checked the fit for the livestock
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/18/1512_07_07_14_7_22_07_1.jpg)
Added fur fabric thatch and balsa wood sides, sprayed the fence with halford's khaki paint
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/18/1512_07_07_14_7_22_07_2.jpg)
Basing done with the obligatory sand and thinned PVA glue mix. Added a door at this point too to give it some more interest.

Finished the painting - wattle has been given a wash of thinned burnt umber oil paint and a few details picked out. Thatch is foundry canvas triad.

Grass tufts and static grass applied and thatch aged using a mix of brown and green inks
(http://leadadventureforum.com/gallery/18/1512_07_07_14_7_23_36_0.jpg)
Added a bit of straw to the interior so the animals are comfy :)

Some more haystacks from John Jenkins Designs (excellent service from John in HK) finished as the other at the beginning of the article. Also made a dung heap which is just old bristles and coir matting strands soaked in thinned PVA and then piled up. Some static grass added to the top to look like the grass it taking hold.

I shall give him a nudge.
Thanks for the tip-off.

I'll be watching this space. Nice for inspiration for my Chivalry project (which has stalled because of big diappointment in a ruleset). :)
-
Nice! Those haystacks and the cattle pen look good. I look forward to seeing how you will do the dwellings (and hopefully knicking an idea or two... ;) ).
My knight is still without a village, you know...
