I have put some photos of a few items I have finished on my Blog.
The scenery is new in these photos not the figures.
The new bits slot into existing terrain. Shame about the colour not matching though. >:(

Very nice, I like the way you can slot in different pieces there, good idea. Nicely painted miniatures as well.
-
looks great
-
Nice job mate!
-
I have two of the belly dancer and like that paint job enough to copy it... ;)
-
Dan,
I really like your work on these :-* :-*
LB
-
Lovely work.
-
Oh, very nice! :-* Love those little dioramas!
-
:-* Love the scenery piece and great paint job on the minis (will copy the reaper bellydancer paint scheme)
-
Hi Guys thanks for the praise.
The dancers paint scheme was copied from Yaya Han, my favourite cosplayer. Well the only one I know the name of :-*

I had a few problems with skin tones working up from a much too dark base tone. I would have liked to have gone lighter but I did not want to put too many layers of paint on the figures. She fits well with my other Reaper Dancer which I will rephotograph later.
The scenery was easy to make as I had a pile of leftover bits which Will Bailey (Will the Piper) had left me when he left NZ. I painted the murals this time and then went back and painted the same bits on my Pyramid which had been left plain before. More photos to come.

If I had a steady hand and a Wargamer 'Insane Detail' paint brush, I'd attempt it, but wish me luck.

Dan
I like the figs...what make are they???
Pete

Great stuff.

Just do what I would do: Cheat and use a pen (I use one for pupils, some eyebrows, and the herringbone pattern on a suit jacket).

I am now officially a fan of Yaya Han, and she's my favorite cosplay person, whatever that is :)

Hi Pete sorry did not check back on the thread, The Harem ladies are from a kickstarted called "Egyptian Harem Kickstarter" I think its finished now. I only bought these three as I thought they were too small to fit with my other figures.

I have just added my "Top Gear 1930's Special" batch of figures to my Blog. I also have a few other figures and bits added.
Basically they will be used as Diplomats which need rescuing or just added flavour to my games. I will just post the highlights here.

OMG, that 1930's The Stig. Brillllliiiiiant! lol lol lol
-
:o
lol lol lol
Brilliant! James is spot on, well played sir. Just the right chaps who would end up in trouble with some 'locals' and need saving.
Cheers
Matt
-
Absolutely brilliant!
-
That is fantastic! What a brilliant idea, I love them all but the Stig is inspired work.
Top Gear vs. Rocket Man (that's gotta be Pulp hasn't it?).

I can't abide the programme, but those are terrific minis.
Mind you, it must be hard not to take the peril markers literally. Here come the flying skulls, again!
-
Thanks all, glad you like them.
I painted some Eureka Chaos Egyptians which are a bit fragile. I wish I knew about the Black Tree ones earlier as I would have bought some, but cannot be bothered right now even though they were on sale at the weekend.

I have just painted "A star in a reasonably priced Cart". (I intend doing a Chinese version when I go back to doing BOB painting)

What was the lap time? Wet lap? lol
I love your work, those prisoners are excellent, sort of reminds me of a chain-gang in an old black and white film.
-
Outstanding work! Love those stripes. ;)

I realised that now I have two Pulp threads running which could be a bit confusing for other people to follow. I will combine the two threads here.
So the Pulp Alley Demo game at Call to Arms is here. http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=70117.0
I finished the Sailors for my Pulp Boats. I added a crewman with a nasty looking knife to some earlier Sailors which crew my armed trawler.
The other seven I finished are to crew my river boat.
Last time I took some photos I used a brown sheet which made it difficult to find a focus point. I am amazed at how much difference to my photography that using a blue sheet has made. I took the photo with just natural lighting on a gloomy day with the figures on my desk. :D

Really nice work, Dan.
Love 'em!
:-* :-*
One day I shall paint some of my own and shall be back for another look then for inspiration.
:D
-
Beautiful work and great ideas.
I had forgotten all about this thread and the inspirational photos from the movie and the cosplayer. And I forgot I'd already declared "I am now officially a fan of Yaya Han...."
Must look her up - she'd be a marvelous Dejah Thoris I bet....
-
FINE job :-*
-
Beautiful work, Dan! Those sailors look great. ;)

Just gone noon, half past monsoon, on the banks of the river Nile... ;)

Dan,
I really like the chariot and the band :-* :-* Really looking forward to you getting back into Back of Beyond!

Just curious, found the kickstarter for the egyptian harem girls, but not if they were available anywhere, is there a company that makes them?

It looks like those are all on the Dark Fable site as well - http://www.darkfableminiatures.com/index.html
I wasn't too impressed by the Dark Fable stuff, but it may just be their paint jobs. Those unpainted ones really do look nice and the ones Dan painted are really good.
I guess the old saying it right - "Don't judge a miniature by its paint job." That is an old saying, right? Well, it should be. ;)

I'd like to present the popular crew from the Carrion Movies, well my version of the "Carry On" cast members. These are based on various Movies such as Carry On Up the Jungle and Carry On Up the Kyber. Barbs did not appear in either of these movies but I had to include her. The figure of Barbs was taken from my Old West collection and given a new hair colour and base. I feel that I should have repainted the skin tones to match the others as she is a bit pale, but I guess that fits her image.
This is the first time that I have attempted to paint Tartan and feel that I made the pattern too sparse but am pretty happy with it.

As some people may not be aware of the Carry On Movies here is the trailer for Carry On Up the Kyber.

I also painted a leader for my Cultists.

Really charismatic miniatures with a fine paintjob :-*
-
What a cracking job, Dan.
Brilliant, each and every one of them.
:-* :-* :-*
I am nervous of tartan too, and I HAVE to make my first attempt at it in the next 24hrs.... ::)
-
Really outstanding! Richard
-
Lovely stuff, but Lady RD looks a bit like a dalek in that skirt....
-
Great work on all the miniatures, but I particularly like the cultists, especially the boss.
-
Those are all hilarious groups. Excellent! :D
-
Oh those are great. Wonderful job. Carry on! :-*
-
Thanks all. I feel that I could carry on forever doing these Pulp gangs, but will have to do something else soon.
I have an English ParaMilitary Society in mind which I may do next.
-
They are rather addictive, aren't they!
-
Some really superb work there, Dan.
-
I just finished a couple of figures. I am not sure if I should call them Dwarfs or Hobbits?
I bought these figures some years ago from Brigade Games but cannot remember who makes them. They are actually 20mm but do not look like it.
I thought they would do for Pulp Games and there are another six figures, four of them seated which I don't know what to do with.

Conspiratorial midgets? Sounds pulpy to me! ;D
-
Put them at the end of a corridor or on a rooftop to give the illusion of depth.
-
Very cool! lol

Small case investigators chasing small time crooks, where there is only a tiny bit of info to go on. Drinks at the mini bar when case closed.

I decided against painting my Sky Pilots as an English Para Military Society when I saw this photo.
I slightly changed the colours to Green for Command, Blue for Science and Medical, Tan for Navigation and Red for Engineering and Security. I think you should be able to guess the names of four of the figures?
