Some detail shots from my final LPL8 entry.
Like several others as it turned out, I thought perhaps avoiding the obvious Western Front subjects might be a good idea, so settled on the Arab Revolt, and one of those immortal scenes from 'Lawrence of Arabia'.
The Turkish figures are from Woodbine Designs (Gripping Beast); the Arab figures from Mike Owen - either from his Thrilling Tales range, or from the WW1 Arab Revolt range jointly carried by Artizan and Brigade Games.

The base board was a lump of blue foam with a bomb crater dug in it and textured, overlaid with balsa sleepers and plastic rails.

The wagon assembly was a plastic kit base (thanks to Jimbibbly for that) on which I constructed a body made from plastic card.
The flag is made from tin foil.

The machine gun nest I scratchbuilt from plastic card and green stuff.

I sprinkled the whole thing with actual sand for the purposes of the final photo for the LPL.

Obviously it's a bit weird seeing the wagon on its own, but I guess it could have been at the front or rear of the train, and become uncoupled in the course of an attack - that's my story and I'm sticking to it... ;)
If only I'd built a locomotive like Frank :D
This little lot was really just for the purposes of the LPL. I won't be using these figures again, so the Turks, the wagon, machine gun nest and baseboard are available as a set if anyone is interested in acquiring them. (I'll post separately in the bazaar in due course).
Lawrence and the Arabs I will hang onto, as they might come in useful one day :)
Thank you to the people that kindly voted for this entry. It was close, but no cigar :)

Incredible paintjobs and building of train and terrain track. It's like watching the movie,do you use inks?

Nope. A bit of a light wash occasionally, but never used an ink in anger :)
You got my vote.
Thanks Colin :D

Oi! You said you didn't want it back (but of course you can, if you'd really like it... I think a Turkish wagon would be a great addition to your Martian Japanese railway! :))

Superb stuff Richard :-* :-* :-*

Only kidding :D
I've got loads of waggons and have the bits drawn up for lasering now so can make as many as I need.

Jolly nice brushwork - like you say, if only you'd made the loco :)

You could have added your usual advice Mark - roll higher dice ;)

Superb!
Where did you get the plastic rolling stock from?
-
Gorgeous paintwork as usual.
Gotta love those stripes.

Now give James his toys back!
You know he will be sulking until they come back, dont you?

Thanks :)
Superb!

I got it from Jimbibbly who got it from dr De'ath. It's kitbashed on the running gear from one of the passenger carriages which comes as part of an entire cheapo train kit. Same as the one James has used on his Mars railway...

Cheers Captain
Not a Teamzters train is it?
-
I believe it's a Minicraft 1/45 scale kit of an 1872 'Vulcan' loco plus carriages etc. Quite readily available online.
Check out Jimbibbly's Mars thread page 61 to see it in all its glory... http://leadadventureforum.com/index.php?topic=21604.900

Coincidentally, there's one of those train sets in a shop near me - I actually saw it today.
