Hi Folks
Following the success of my Dolls House Church I have put together a simple list of 1/48 scale Dolls House suppliers in the UK on my blog.
So if you are looking for weather vanes, furniture, beehives, or just a beach hut head to one of these sites.
This is a real treasure trove !

Hope this helps…

Nice collection of supply sites. I'll have to do a search for this side of the pond.
-
Excellent sources. Thanks for posting.

been thinking about that church myself... how did you do the texture?
-
Some really handy stuff there. The tudor stuff would be great for a Border Reivers game. Thanks for sharing.

I almost moved over to the dark side a while back when looking into accessories for the Frother's game 'Cthluedo'.

I ordered some bits from atriflesmall today - it'll be interesting to see how things progress.
-
I keep forgetting about this site - it's supposedly 1/43 but they do chimney pots, pipes etc:

It's all detailed on the blog apologies can't post link at the moment but I used sand and ballast on a pva glue

That church is a triumph and great list of sites - well done!

Excellent post that man! I've been looking for a church for ages but had a picture in my head that just wasn't matched by anything I'd seen but this is near enough perfect. And I like a lot of the other bits, none of it is too expensive from the same company. So many thanks to you Eric
Cheers JB

Well the bits arrived today - very quick!
I ordered some of the plastic bedroom and dining room furniture, a couple of laser etched kits and some pewter stuff.
My initial impression is that they are indeed a trifle small, being more suited to 20mm than 28mm; although admittedly I don't have any figures with me to compare them with. i do know that if any of my VBCW miniatures wanted a wash, they wouldn't fit in the 1/48 tin bath I ordered, although it could double up as a wash tub, no nothing lost there.
I want to use these bits to make some improvised barricades, so I can easily bash them up and hide the smallness and don't think my money has been wasted.
I'll post some photos with my minis when I get the chance.

Just want to offer one small caveat. I've just bought a basic cottage kit from Petit Properties, to see if it fit with any of the other laser cut MDF buildings I've already got (Sarissa, Warbases). All you get for your money is completely blank and featureless MDF, cut to size to form a completely bare shell of the building. There is no etched detail, no doors, windows or other detailing parts. You're expected to add all the detail yourself using standard scratch-building techniques and materials. There aren't even any slots & tabs to facilitate assembly of the building shell.
So if you're expecting anything like the usual wargaming MDF building kits, you will be disappointed. They're crafting kits, where all the fun is supposed to be in the modelling process. Fair enough if you like that sort of thing, but if you do, to be honest I think you're better off doing a complete scratch-build and spending your money on furnishings instead.

Hi DR Vesuvius
I think you might have been missing something in your kit
Just bought three more buildings includes all the doors, windows, acetates for glass etc
Personally I think the kits are great and once built will add that little bit of England I am looking for
No bad comments from me
-
I should have added that mine have tabs and are very easy to build :)
-
I think they offer a choice of basic and more detailed kits don't they?
-
JP - wasn't aware of that - just ordered the basic stuff which comes complete with all doors, windows etc.
The first is almost complete - pictures very soon

The kit I got was called Mulberry House and contained none of that stuff, but the booklet did have instructions for scratch building doors, window frames, moulding and stairs. It's not labelled as a basic kit, and at £25 for something fairly modest, it's not what I'd call a 'barebones' price, when I could get a similar sized townhouse from Sarissa's Gaslamp Alley range with lots of etched detail for £5 less.
I'm glad to hear you're happier with your purchases. Maybe Mulberry is just an older kit and the newer ones have more detail.

Ok, here are some improvised barricades I made with the 1:48 stuff from 'A Trifle Small'. Actually they're not as small as I originally thought and scale up quite nicely with 28mm figures.
(Note that the upturned tables were not part of the order)

Those scale perfectly! Great barricades!

Nice to see others traveling the Doll House road. Alas, being in 15 mm its harder to find useful stuff for me. 1/144 sort of works, sometimes. Pretty hard hear in the states to find anything in the 1:96 scale that would work so much better.
Love those barricades and very nice painting on them.

Thanks! :D
