Hello everyone! I'm not sure this is the right section, since this tutorial is quite specific for japanese-style buildings. However, it's about woodworking, so i don't see why it shouldn't be in the Workbench.
Well, i wanted to find a way to build a wooden lattice for the japanese paper walls or for any kind of windows, and i came with this solution.

How did you cut the long transverse lines? Did you file that down or...?

A really small chisel

Actually, just a couple of cuts with my cutter, then using the cutter blade as a chisel, i "lifted" the wood. If you cut transversal to the wooden grain, it's quite easy to do!
