Hi
With the soon, september 2014, release of Dan Merseys medieval rules Lion Rampant I thought that my Summer project have to be to complete a new medieval army based on the armylist in the rules.
Danish Hoast project, this force I´m painting for my UK based friend Tony, I have been working on it for some time but never got around to finish it so I thought it was time to make some progres.
It will be a Danish Hoast that should be set in time from the Battle of Visby 1361 to the Battle of Åsle 1389 and maybe some erlier and later to, but in short the time of the King Valdemar IV of Denmark and his Daughter Queen Margaret I of Denmark. The minis are a mix of Perry and Claymore.
A few more picutres at my blog (http://dalauppror.blogspot.se/2014/07/medieval-danish-hoast-for-lion-rampant-1.html)
Best regards Michael

It's always interesting to see other nations antics away from the historical 'norms' (crusades, hundred yeas wars etc).
Looking forward to seeing this continue as I love the research you put into your projects 8)
cheers

Hi
Just an easy start for my summer project, during the last week I just have painted the two mounted Men-at Arms to complete the Bybelsbak unit. As all mounted units in Lion Rampant there are 6 minis.
Some more pictures of the full unit at my blog. (http://dalauppror.blogspot.se/2014/07/medieval-danish-hoast-for-lion-rampant-2.html)

Hi
Some slow progress in my Summer project, with just about one month to the release of the Lion Rampant rules.
This time I completed the second unit of Knights for the Danish Host, 5 new painted ones. The Knights are painted in the House of Thott colours.
More pictures at my blog (http://dalauppror.blogspot.se/2014/08/medieval-danish-hoast-for-lion-rampant-3.html)

Great stuff Michael...... and prolific too :-* :-* :-* :-*

Always love your work, Michael.
Is 48 models - 3 units of 12 + 1 unit of cavalry - the standard LR army build?
I'm thinking about morphing my Westeros armies (currently sized to Dux Brit) to work in this system.

I'm thinking about morphing my Westeros armies (currently sized to Dux Brit) to work in this system.
Mounted units are 6 figures, most foot units are 12 (a couple are 6). 5-6 units seems to be reasonable for a 24-point force - a couple of mounted and the rest foot. So 12 cavalry and 36-48 foot figures sounds about right, and Leaders are included in the numbers.
A Dux Brit force is not far off - a British-style force has 36 infantry, 3 leaders and 4 skirmishers, so another couple of skirmishers and a box of a dozen plastic cavalry and you're there!
If you can, take a look at the book before you start a force to see how they fit. There are only 11 unit types in the game.
Useless statistics:
Smallest legal force: - 24 foot or 12 cavalry + 6 foot if you go all Men-at-Arms and add in some upgrades.
Biggest legal force - if you go the "all-serf" route, how does 264 minis sound?
Lovely painting D! It's a fun-looking game, isn't it?
-
Hey Momotaro! You're a mensch! Thank you!!
That "all serf" force could be fun for someone who wants to mount a "Surpressing the Jacquerie" scenario - and has a masochistic need to paint that many armed peasants.

Only 4 units or 12 points of any one unit type so no all Serf force if you want to stay true to the rules.
-
You're right Jack. Damn! lol
Might have saved some painting though :D
OK, biggest legal force is 120 figures!
-
Do more than 1 force lol
We played 96 points a side last night as an intro game with 8 players. Went well considering only 2 had played before and then only 1 game against each other.
Pics on my blog.

Good that you seems to be interested in Lion Rampant, its a realy easy gouing set of rules.
I painted some more for the Danish Hoast, but it seems like I forgott to up date this thread, sorry, more pictures at my blog. (http://dalauppror.blogspot.se/search/label/Lion%20Rampant)

Very lovely Army to see, and by the Base-size / basing in general, it looks like it could be used for Saga as well?
-
Pretty cool.
-
Lovely paintwork there!
I reckon that would make a good Saga force, as well.
-
A nicely painted and cohesive army.
-
Really nice to see the army like this. :)
-
Great looking force Michael :-*
Are there any historical personalities included?
-
I realy hope that you all will buy a copy of Wargames, Soldiers & Strategy Issu 75 as then you can read my fist ever published article about the Danish Invasion of Gotland 1361 and also try out the minicampaign with 4 scenarios I constructed for Dan Merseys new medieval wargaming rules Lion Rampant :)
Ofcours have I also included some stats so you can use the scenarios for Hail Caesare to;)
WSS 75 will be released on November 1st, 2014, just two weeks of waiting...
