Hi there,
may I introduce: the proud flagship of the underwater special forces (USF) fighting for anyone who can effort their service. As the captain always says: "Most of the time you don't see us. But if you see us, the last thing you'll see is the sea. Searious!"
Jawohl, Herr Kaleu! :D
Best,
Tobi

Beautiful :-*
-
There's nothing more humbling than spending the morning hacking away at foambord in a vain attempt to build a simple hut, then logging on here and seeing things like this... :'(
It is indeed very beautiful...can I have one?
-
I am cursed never to enter a supermarket without buying stuff for the shape of the packaging alone. To reconstruct one of these I've worked out I'd have to purchase a tub of lard, a tin of tasmanian mackeral and a pack of custard powder i found in the clearance bin. I am weighing up the costs of my hobby on my digestive system.
But seriously a lovely little model and I like the captain (Death Korps Krieg?) in the turret. This will be a stunner when painted up. Well done.

The commander is there just for scale reasons... don't know what he is, found him in an ebay mixed bitz box ;)

Lovely little submarine!
The Commander is an old (1999) piece which was supplied, for a time, with Games Workshop´s "Leman Russ" Battle Tank kit.
-
You should totally get a company to make castings of those for you, or sell them the master.
-
The captain is a Leman Russ Tank Commander from GW. Used to be included with the kit, not sure if it still is.
The sub is great! What is the body made from? Looks like one of those health drinks (Yakult or sinilar). Also, how was the fan made? It looks effective.

That's what I want to do... If someone's got contacts to such companys, I'd appreciate your help! Tobi

Could be, but it's a plastic tube with deospray caps on the end... the fan is actually made of many many single pieces of sheet.

Thats a lovely little sub, I like that a lot.

Why don't you PM the guys from Pardulon? They're fellow LAFers.
-
Very nice! Will it... float?... Submerge?... or Sink!...
-
I like that!! A very nicely proportioned minisub! And you cut the fan blades individually :o :o WOW!
-
Fan?
Unless that appendage at the stern of the sub really is a cooling mechanism I think you chaps mean screw or propeller... :)
It's just the business, is that. Top job.

I run Ramshackle Games, and a victorian looking sub is just right I think! Not sure if its better if I pay you for the original or give you a cut of each that sell. PM me if you are interested!
On another note, how did you make the propeller fans at the back?

It's really nice, but how would a gamer use an entire sub? Don't we insist on waterline stuff? I know this could be used for undersea games, but those are pretty rare.
-
HLBSC do a range of stuff for under the sea, with sharks and such on flying bases as I recall, and chaps in old-style diving suits to walk along the bottom.
Didn't seem to exactly set the gaming world alight (I've never seen anybody post painted examples) but it was a nice idea. At least it shows there are other things out there you could use with this sub.

Some of our German friends here posted some photos of an undersea game using Scheltrum divers if I recall correctly. I think its somewhere on the Pulp board. It looked spectacular, corral reefs, brightly coloured undersea flowers, fish and a sunken ship.great fun, but I guess the games are somewhat limited in terms of scenarios....
-
I have also seen a couple of undersea games posted previously on the Yahoo GASLIGHT forum and they looked to be a lot of fun.
As well as the HLBS stuff, Scheltrum and Reviresco also do nice figures in dive suits and Reviresco also do swimming gill men, so there is lots of potential for undersea games. But be warned to first check the sizes of the different ranges of dive suits if you want to mix them, as I don't think all manufacturers compatible. My personal choice would be to use Scheltrum, as they do several packs of different suit types. The Reviresco stuff looks nice too - the dive suits have a certain 'Disney' 20,000 Leagues look to them.
Also look out for Stingray devilfish submarines.

Probably the sensible option would be to offer both a surface version and a full submerged version...

Wow. Bloody awesome submarine.

Excellent stuff there. ;D
Reminds me to my Jorgensen-Smythe obtained from HLBS a couple of years ago. Must search for it - it's buried somewhere in my garage... lol

Wargames Illustrated July issue had a cool looking game featuring X-craft against the Tirpitz - all on flying stands with the table showing the seabed, mines & torpedo nets as tall freestanding hazards etc.
-
The master is sold... maybe you can buy it casted soon from the winner...
