If I wasn't totally broke I would get into this.
-
Do you need the first book for this or can you play with just the second book??
-
Well, I still haven't finished painting the muscovites I got at last year's Salute, but I will be backing this nonetheless! :D
-
@marcusluis, I believe that The Deluge is just a supplement and you will need the first book to play. It is well worth the price just for the historical information on the wars and nations involved. 8)

I could not find any information of the scale of the miniatures. Is it 15mm?
-
As far as I know, By Fire and Sword is scaled for 15mm gaming.
Of course I don't see why you cant use a bigger scale. If you where so inclined.
-
Scale info is on the official site (http://www.fireandsword.wargamer.pl/index.php?option=com_content&view=article&id=46&Itemid=58). It would be nice to repeat basic like this on the campaign page, of course. Not everyone looking at that page is already familiar with the system.

I still can't find the miniatures for the first game anywhere in United States. Please don't send me a link to the Sgt Major site because he's been out of stock ever since they've been listed and never got any stock in from the company. I have the rulebook and have never been able to play because I can't get the figures. Seems silly that they would come out the new kickstarter rather than creating more stock for the basic game.
-
Sgt Major miniatures sold a great deal of stuff at Historican from what I understand, but I was just in his store and he has the unit boxes and blisters available. The skirmish boxes seem to be out of stoke though. Since one of the developers of the game was there with him, I can't imagine that he won't be getting more stock in shortly.

If anyone wants to purchase my By Fire and Sword rule book, they are welcome to it for 50% off retail plus shipping. It's basically brand-new. Keep in mind that I am in the United States. PM me if you are interested.

You could always use other 17th century figures - there are plenty of firms (both sides of the pond) that have suitable ranges.
Old Glory perhaps?

Myself, I am pretty excited about this new KS. I backed the last one and was very pleased with the quality of everything I received. And I learned that getting a parcel to the US from Poland is considerably cheaper than getting one of the same size from Canada! To me, this is a fascinating period and region and I have really appreciated their efforts to help educate the non-Polish speaker on the period's history and personalities. despite the fact that I'm woefully behind in completing the armies form the first book, I'm excited to get the next round of offerings.
Axabrax, sorry to hear you've had trouble getting the figures. They are really nice for the most part, but fwiw, Essex does a full range for the period in 15mm. I had begun buying the BFS boxes from FRP before they launched the English rulebook KS and at this point have relied on that stock of figures and those I got with the KS, so wasn't aware it was hard to come by them these days. I think FRP still has some stock, but not much.
Maybe Anatoli could reach out and find out what the plans are for better US availability of the miniature range?

Going on for three more days.
Not quite as addictive bargain as the previous one, but will still make a dent to my finances... :)
-
A bit off-topic but Does anyone know how these scale with the Essex 15mm's?
-
I think they scale up well with the Essex. Essex horses are a little bulkier, but not so bad they can't be in the same army.

Lots of announcements coming out - so may still be some more interesting developments.
