A couple of extra metal DAK packs, French foreign legion in kepis (alas, but the latest Perry newsletter says that variants in steel helmets will soon follow), a British conversion pack to turn the 8th army plastic set into highlanders and a WIP of the forthcoming French 75mm gun :

wellwell, that's a nice propaganda unit for Bir Hacheim....
I know I am an ungrateful dog, but I sure hope they do spare toppee heads
-
Very cool. A French 75mm, and the Pak 38, and you make the Italian Pak 97/38! So hard to find the right parts to make one. Until now ...
-
With appropriate head swaps some of those will work for Indochina methinks.

"5 stars in the gayest strangest and most gripping, adventure ever brought to the screen "

How did I miss these! :o :o
The jeep and 25pdr and the FFL and and and... :P o_o :o
My poor wallet. :'(
Desert War in 28mm was only going to be a side project. Just a box of 8th Army plastics for me, and a couple of support weapons.
Strangely a box of DAK plastics arrived the other day.
Now there is more temptation.

What I can recognize is that the actually have french webbing and kit, rifles and cheche? so only british helmets?
and also, may I askplease about the difference between these two outfits?

Thank you, this will help me.

i think that the picture of the first legionnaire show a summer uniform , with rolled up legs and rolled up sleeves .
but i'm not sure :?
-
the first one , wears french 1935 shirt and british short with french equipments weapon and shoes (1917).
the second ...more diffcicult ....british webbing, perhaps french short (shorter without big lapels ) with french 1941 shoes and british sten . but it is too far to be sure !!
both have british webbing gaiters .
best regards
paco

India pattern Wolseley helmets actually, according to the Perry FB page.
I've seen comparison pics somewhere, probably here on the LAF, but I don't have the links at hand. Expect the Crusader figures to be taller and much chunkier and beefier than the Perry offerings, though.

thank You very much, I will see it then

merci! - so I understand shorts with turnover are british?
-
yes they are for sure!!
best regards
paco
-
They were called Bombay bloomers. They were shorts that could be buttoned down to form trousers as a gas protection.
-
why are they seen so rarely on pictures? were they buttoned from the inside originally?
ah well, maybe I simply don't recognize them...
-
I take it that you guys have seen these?
-
yes, as said by Pacofeanor on sunday .
but they will be more useful for other free french than for foreign legion .
there are few evidence of FFL with british helmet at Bir Hakeim, and later, they have even british weapons as a lot has been lost in Bir Hakeim .
but very useful minis for 1st Bataillon d'infanterie de marine in erytrea, western desert Operation Compass, and Syria .
.
-
True.
I'd love to see Free French in sun helmets to do the 13th DBLE in Erytrea but I don't know if the twins intend to do some (there are a couple of figures with green stuff colonial helmets in the background of one of the pics above, but it's hard to tell what they are exactly).
I'm also interested if anyone has period pics of the 3rd bataillon de marche in 1941 and the type of headgear they wore in the field : I googled the unit but failed to come up with anything.

Yep, that's the one. Raised in Chad in late 1940 with native troops around a cadre of French officers. I haven't been able to find pictures which specifically depict their appearance during the 1941 Erytrean campaign.
