Back into wargaming after children have all grown up & I find I have a lot of me time.
So here are the first units for Afghan.
3 para n 2 downed copter pilots & Taliban with a few Al Queda added.
Painting done by Mark of overwatchcommand as have zero skills in that dept!
More stuff to follow...
-
That's a good start. I like the bases. :-*
-
Thank you.
Here's some work in progress pics..
The digger n the van were die cast eBay specials..being suitably weathered up.
The figures are all Empress..Rules will either be Skirmish sangin, corner of a foreign field or the Spectre rules.
Small to medium skirmish sized games with some black ops type stuff included.
Although I'm also tempted to run a fictional country setting. Time will tell.
-
Really good stuff, where are the vehicles from?

EBay mate. I got the van for a couple of quid n the digger for £6.50.
Bargains....
Asked if Mark could make them suitably weathered & gameable & this is the results thus far..
-
I'd say that's a great start to the collection. The bases are very well done and those vehicles are wonderfully weathered. :)

Cheers for the positive comments.
In all my excitement I forgot to post a pic of my first completed unit.
4 man SAS team..
-
that is one badass collection you have there sir.
-
Colour me super-jealous. Great figures, great paintwork. Hugely impressed.
-
Thanks for the real kind words guys.
Mark is great & seems to nail what I ask for.
Lots more to come imminently...
-
Lovely paintwork indeed- a great collection. One minor thing- the shalwar kameez (the top and bottoms Afghans wear) are always sold and worn in matched sets- so one colour. If you're not gaming with someone who's been there or a trainspotter on such things it really doesn't matter. Beautiful paint jobs regardless.
-
Thanks for the tip/knowledge😊
Here's the Seal team...
-
Some more work in progress shots.
SBS sniper team & the frogmen.
-
Oh my - these are great! :-*
-
They all look great. Much better paint job then my own.
-
Sweet paint there.
-
woaw, i think is a good start :-*
-
Im late to the party, but these are great...
-
Again thanks for the appreciation..
More wip pics to follow. I managed to grab 3 ltd edition empress minis..The NZ SAS guy, the M32 grenadier & the frogman with the demo charges plus some terrain objectives.
So they will be appearing soon...
-
Great looking figures. The excavator is fantastic too!
Without sounding cheeky is there a website for Overwatch Command, as I couldn't find one.

Mark is working on it.
He can be contacted at mark@overwatchcommand.com
Top painter, nice guy & a wargamer to boot.
-
Absolutely damn fine work! :-*
-
SBS sniper team finished..
How do you know they are SBS?
Well apparently it's a tradition they wear something blue to distinguish themselves over the SAS boys..So that was my brief to Mark.
Old wives tail??...Maybe 😀

I would..he might surprise you!

This is the pic I sent Mark for him to use for painting the Kickstarter fig. It's based on the NZ SAS VC winner Willie Apiata. He's on the right of the pic..
-
And this is his work on it so far...
-
And here's Willie finished & the Frogmen nearing completion too...
We went with a more jungle style base for the frogmen, for that 'Just out of the water' look!
Mark is painting quicker than I'm posting!
Btw he wanted me to know that his lighting set up makes them over colourised but they are more realistic in the flesh..so to speak.
Personally I am chuffed to bits n cannot wait to get all these to table..just need some opponents! Lol...
-
Here are the finished Frogmen, some objective markers & a press guy for those headlines!
-
Amazing work, great collection.
-
Is the head detachable?

It's the spelling I find poor old boy.

2 more finished vehicles for Afghan/Africa. Merc unimog & an 80s fire engine.
Both sourced via eBay for less than a tenner total!
1/50 scale...
Suitably weathered n stuff by Mark.
Then some pallets made up as a small light cover piece.
It's propped up for the pic, not a warped base btw!
-
Love the fire truck!!!!!
-
What brand are the trucks? Solido? Lookin' great.
