Morning folks,
Any hints and tips on making bushes both large and small?
For 6mm I used the WS clump on small bases but as I get larger (anything over 15mm) they begin to look plain (even with a dusting of flock).
I am now also wondering how to make bushes for 90mm (Papo style) figures - so for I think I may chop off the top of a WS tree frame and use that as a former for the bush...
Thanks in advance
Andrew

Look for some of the steel wool and cut into it randomly before breaking it up from the central mass almost like you can make spider webs out of cotton balls, but no where near as thin at the end, you want a tangled mess to remain, but to look like a group of intergrown bushes.. Take a heavier wire and use that to attach it to the base by threading it through. Mix up some extremely thin plaster to something like cream texture and dip it in and let it drip off, then repeat a few times after a few minutes of time to set. Brush it with a layer of thinned pva, and then paint it as you would a tree trunk after the glue dries.
Then hit the tips with a dark green and add flock in several, heavy layers before sealing.
A friend of mine did that for a nativity set, and it looks rather good.

Somewhere was a blog with a guy making bocage (including bushes) in 28mm using among other things blue pond filter material sprayed brown then coated with tiny leaves from mininatur I think. Was very effective.
He also had a playing area with trimmed teddy-bear fur that looked amazing, as well as some cobblestone road sections that were snapped up by one of the German terrain makers.
Ringing any bells any one?(I'll post the link if I find it)
EDIT: found it - www.elladan.de - some inspirational ideas there well worth a look.
