Gorgeous! Are they Cutting Edge? Foundry?
-
Nice and clean, looking forward to see them en masse
-
Excellent start!
Looking forward to see your progress.
Good luck!

Very nice, should look just the thing as a unit! :-*

Thank you for the encouragement.
The figures are all Foundry.
I ordered a few packs of Foundry Sea People last week and while on the phone to them I mentioned I was painting Hittites. When the package arrived those nice chaps at Foundry had included a pack of the "Unseen Hittites" sculpted by Ronnie Shilton, and to be honest I was pleasantly surprised, they don't look too bad, they are a good match for height, but they look a bit beefier than the Perry sculpts. I'll paint them up and post a comparison picture.
Cheers

Very nice looking miniatures with a grand paint scheme :) Keep them coming :)

6 More spear men.
I'm flying through the Hittites, at this rate it could be all over by Christmas lol

Nicely done!

Looks like a great start. I really like the earlier chariots you have on your blog. Another tempting historical army...

Good to see a continuation :)
That outfit doesn't look very practical for fighting though :?

Top of the military fashion on its day James :)
Very interesting project :-*
-
Interesting project and nice work :)

Thanks for the encouragement

I think that the off the shoulder cloak is some form of protection, a thick felt cloak designed to have a similar effect as the cloaks worn by the Sumerians. I also think that the Hittite spear men are a bit under rated by most game systems, from my admittedly limited research they appear to form a vital part of the army, well trained in anti-chariot tactics and highly motivated, a sort of proto phalanx.
Most game systems just rate them as ordinary spear men but DBMM rates them as Regular, Pike, fast so they should perform well against most opponents they'll come up against.

A quick WIP update, just to show I haven't given up ;)

In other news, I've been diagnosed with carpal tunnel syndrome, which I've suspected I've had for sometime now, it can get a bit hurty when I paint for more than about 30 minutes. I'm not looking for sympathy or offering any excuses just an FYI

Love the paintjobs on the fabric :-* :-*

Excellent, you're going to have a great looking army. Love the look you have going on.
-
Lovely! :-*
What others have said, the army is going to look great in those vibrant colours.
-
Very nice. The chariots are going to look impressive as a unit.

A few more spear men.
I haven't been painting for the past week or so, I've been trying to change my habits as I've stopped smoking and I would take frequent fag breaks while painting, anyway I've been stopped for 28 quid now.
Cheers
-
Excellent on both counts :)
-
Quite agree with Janner!
-
Excellent figures - I love the palettte you are using.
-
Good luck with the smoke free painting. It's a hard habit to break but worth doing.
-
A quick update just to show I haven't given up!
I wanted to get something up before the end of the year, but I haven't been painting much as I inherited my son's X box after he got a new one for his birthday in September, so I've mostly been playing Call of Duty and Farcry.
I'm still miles away from finishing the army, but it may get to see some action later this year in small games.
Cheers and Happy New Year

The Hittite King in his Chariot, not quite finished there's a chariot runner to go on the base.
The armoured crew for the next chariot, like the King's chariot they have a chariot runner, this one gets their runner in the cab though.
-
Keep plugging away, it'll be a grand set once done :)
cheers

Bloody hate seeing threads like this.
I remember being smitten by the Foundry offerings 20 years ago, but by then I already had 100 chariots and probably 1000+ 15mm infantry, along with scenery to match, so I couldn't change scales. These days I prefer 28mm in general, which makes it even worse, and it doesn't help when more nice figures are produced and people start putting lovely paint jobs on them, then wantonly posting them on forums like this.
Don't even seem to get new 15mm offerings these days to feed my habit.
I have seen my doctor about scale envy, but he doesn't take it seriously. Size isn't everything, he said. Don't teach 'em everything at med school, do they.
-
Cracking work :)
-
Detailed and vibrant, they look great :)
-
Please continue! This is probably my favorite Army Painter project! I'd love to face my Mycenaeans off against them someday...
-
Yet more Hittites, even though I think this workbench was supposed to finish last year.
First of all I'd like to says thank you to everyone for the positive comments and if I ever go to New York I'll be sure to bring them with me for the game against the Mycenaean's :D
First is the Hittite King complete with his dismounted chariot runner
(http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k145/the-fighting-chef/Syrio-Canaanites/hittites/DSCF0036_zps78bf56f9.jpg)
Next the 3rd 3 man chariot, complete with a Egyptian casualty
(http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k145/the-fighting-chef/Syrio-Canaanites/hittites/DSCF0039_zpsa470cb81.jpg)
Next a few more spearmen
(http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k145/the-fighting-chef/Syrio-Canaanites/hittites/DSCF0041_zpsffc8b158.jpg)
And finally 3 chariot runners to stick on the bases of the 2 man chariots as a sort of upgrade to 3 man chariots
(http://i87.photobucket.com/albums/k145/the-fighting-chef/Syrio-Canaanites/hittites/DSCF0043_zps0f8ddf75.jpg)
I don't quite know what the hell I was thinking when I painted that lovely lime green cloak, I may paint another one and hide that guy at the back somewhere ;)
Thanks for looking

Great stuff :)

Heh heh I haven't had time to read and respond.
The colors you used on the cat don't quite match the Hittites ;)
I'm curious what you're using for the bronze, I prefer it to mine.
-
I'm curious what you're using for the bronze
I use either Vallejo Game Color Bright Bronze or Brassy Brass and then mix in some Polished Gold to highlight.
I've update the blog again for anyone that interested

I like the spotted hide effect on the chariot. The wounded figure is a good way to fill extra space on the base.
-
Thanks for the reply Doc, the wounded and the chariot runners are all about filling up the base, I've got something similar planned for the infantry when I get round to basing them properly

Time for a group shot ;)
Agreed! This is a lovely project!
-
Okay then.
A group shot of the entire army is due at the end of next month, until then here's a group shot of the Hittite infantry as of today.
It's mostly spearmen with 2 chariot runners/skirmishers front right.
