Title: loose files and american scramble
Post by: B6BosGO on July 28, 2014, 08:56:18 PM

Is anyone out there still playing this? I did, a lot back when it first came out.
Now I am interested in restarting a new American Rev War army using these rules again. But this time instead of 15mm I would like to do it in 25mm.
So, if anyone out there plays this in 25mm I would be interested in any changes to the scale you do. Also how you organize your regiments ( both base size number stands per regiment).
Thank you looking forward to hearing from you
Mark

Hi Mark,

We still regularly play this. Nowadays mainly in 20mm but we have played in 25/28mm in the past, and indeed in various other scales. In some of the smaller scales we changed from inches to cm's but basically we used inches for all games 15mm and up with no problems.

I don't remember the exact base we used for 25mm but I think it was a 60mm frontage with 3 infantry or 2 cavalry per base.

Generally what we have done is use smaller units of 'good' units - regulars and skirmishers - say 3 to 6 bases per unit. Larger units for 'bad' units - militia - say 5 to 10 bases. But with a large variety of unit sizes generally.

I think one of the good things with these rules is they are very flexible and whatever you do will work.

I hope this helps

Hello all

What figures do you use in 20mm?
Metal or plastic?
I know of B&B miniatures and Irregular but i would like to mix others in metal.

Cheers

For a very long time I used "Frying pan and blanket" miniatures.  They are 20mm and have a very complete line of American Rev war figures.  They are reasonably priced at 8.98 for a box of 24 infantry and are on the thin side.  Sad to say the fellow running the company does not have a internet site it is strictly by mail.

We use mainly plastic 20mm - old Airfix and Revell mainly but a few others I can't remember.

Can anyone send me a contact of the Frying Pan and Blanket miniatures and a list if its not much trouble?
I would love to complete my units with brand new figures in metal.
By the way, not exactly AWI but Newline Designs miniatures have a few figures for FIW 20mm that are nice to mix with others specially the indians.

Also if someone can provide pics that would be interesting, not wanting to invade B6BosGO ´s thread.

We are using 10mm figures.

Are there any unit lists or battle scenarios floating around out there?
