Title: Chaos in Cairo Project
Post by: P_Clapham on August 01, 2014, 08:22:08 PM
For the past few years I have been painting up some smaller scale figures for Chaos in Cairo and general pulp wargaming.  A fair amount of them are from Foundry and Rafm.  I ended up adding some undead from Eureka, and before MegaMiniatures went under I scored some Arab swordsmen and mummies.  The pictures aren't the best, they are taken on my new phone, as I can't seem to get decent photos off my digital camera these days.

Rafm Adventuresses from the Space 1889 line.

Foundry WW2 German Officer.  Happy how he turned out.

I forget what line these guys are from.  It was some sort of archeological team complete with diggers.

Arab Swordsmen from MegaMiniatures.

More Arab Swordsman, I like how they turned out.

One of the diggers I mentioned before, and two foundry figures.  I tried to tie the color scheme of the riflemen to the swordsmen, they are intended to be part of the same warband.

Victorian Adventurers from Space 1889.  I may revisit their eyes at some point.

Eureka Mummies.

Space 1889 figures.  I like how the Priest turned out.

A MegaMiniatures mummy next to a Reaper mummy.  I like the detail on the Megaminiatures mummies.

I think the Ghost is from the Megaminiatures line.  The fellow with the sack is from Old Glory.

The pugilist is from Space 1889, I am not sure where the young lady with the gun comes from.

Two foundry figures for my Swords of Ra warband.

Some Foundry WW2 German sentries painted up as Afrika Korp.  Not 100% happy on their uniforms.  A bit too yellow.

A couple of thugs from the Old Glory line.

Two more German WW2 figures from Foundry.  The one on the left is from the officers pack I think, the one on the right is a sentry.

A shot of the four kinds of mummies to give you an idea of scale.

I think these are Brigade Games (http://brigadegames.3dcartstores.com/Evil-German-Zombies-Neubelebentruppen--Reanimated-Troopers3_p_1014.html)

As above, and I'll add an interesting unique painting technique. Looks like the use of an ink wash.  ;)

The majority of the figures were primed black, then drybrushed white.  That way I only had to use a couple of layers of color.  This was followed by a GW wash and then a little more color on top of that.  I finished it all off with a couple layers of gloss finish, and then a layer of matte finish.  The new washes react really well with a nice matte finish, it takes away the gloss of the wash leaving nothing but color.

Yes, can you tell us how you painted these figures?
