Hey Laf,
I've recently been painting up some figures for 'all quiet on the Martian front', but am also keen to use them for more generic Vsf games.
My 'go-to' Vsf rules set has always been Chadwick's Soldier's Companion, however, being originally modeled for All Quiet, my troops are based five men to a stand.
Has anyone any experience using The Soldier's Companion with multi-based figures? And if so, what spanners does it throw in the works?

Your biggest issues are going to be marking casualties, formations changes for movement, and HTH will get a little sticky with trying to figure out who fights who. Other than that it should be easy. lol

Sorry accidentally posted before I was finished.
Really, multibasing will have no serious impact on the rules. You will just need to make some accommodations for the things I listed. Movement and formations are the easiest to deal with. My group determined two bases side by side was open order. One behind the other was line, and turning them on end meant they were in column. If you have some way of marking figs as wounded or killed, we used pipe cleaner rings but these days folks use all kinds of different markers that look better. HTH is the trickiest as normally you line figures up against an opponent. As long as both parties agree as to who fights who you are in good shape.
Good Luck!
