Having a quick mouth and a slow mind, I volunteered to run a game for some of my gaming brothers at their KEGSCON Convention in Chatham, Ontario on September 20. The question is, what to run? True to form, I always take on a project right at the end of summer (when there is no time), rather than at the start. That being said, I'll be running a game based on the Simba attack on the train from the film "Dark of the Sun". Love the film! The Congo Crisis 0f 1960-1965 is a fascinating period historically, and provides almost limitless inspiration for scenarios, figure conversions, painting, scenery, and the huge variety of forces involved (Simbas, UN, European, mercenary, ANC, African).
At this point in time, I just wanted to share some of my "Striker Blue Force" photos with you as a work in process. The vast majority of the Katangan Gendarmes are plastic Warlord Games US Army Rangers or British Commandos, with a little green stuff added to create bush jackets, and a metal FN from the TAG Australian Vietnam line. The "officers/ncos" (Curry, Ruffo, Kataki and Henlein) are Artizan, Warlord and Company B figures with weapon (or head) swaps.
As the project progresses I'll post more photos of both the Simbas (why do I need so many????), and of the game. The plan is for this project to grow to include mercenary, UN and other ANC forces.

Great looking figures.
One of my favorite postWW2 movies.
Look forward to more photos.
What rules are you planning to use?

I haven't seen that movie in awhile.
Looking forward to seeing the simbas.

Excellent idea for a game. Looking forwards to seeing more! :)

Juergen, feel free to post any of my photos on this thread. I'd be honoured.
Marine, since I tend to run a lot of convention games, I need something fast and simple to teach and use. I use a simplified version of FUBAR with a few homebrew additions based on the type of game I want to run.

I've been working on my Simba mobs for this game. At present, I'm up to 75 mismatched, randomly armed, drug-crazed, angry rabble. You name a manufacturer, they are probably in there somewhere. I've added 4 pictures of the Simbas and one of their "command". I'll post the train once its done.
