Has anyone seen the new Snowcat from Copplestone Castings? WOW! :o
It's up on the site under Newest Releases.

Not until you pointed it out.
Wonder how it compares in size with figures ?

Here it is.

Lovely.

Just brilliant!
-
OOOOH that looks good.... I want one...... :-*
Just one thing though... how the hell are they going to get that thing from that crevasse?
-
Fill the crevasse with water and wait till it freezes over?
Seriously, I think that snowcat is lost unless they pick it up with a helicopter...
-
Looks like it'll make a good bridge!

The vehicle shown was one of four involved in the 1955-58 Commonwealth Trans-Antarctic Expedition, one half led by British explorer Dr.(later Sir) Vivian Fuchs and the other by New Zealander Sir Edmund Hillary. They started out on opposite sides of the continent and met up at the South Pole on Jan.19, 1958. (Hillary was not originally scheduled to travel to the Pole but he apparently saw the chance to get there before the British expedition and took it, arriving there on Jan.3. His was only the third party to accomplish the feat, nearly 46 years after Robert Scott's fateful journey.)
The Tucker Sno-Cat in the picture, which weighs about 3 tons, was suspended over the 60' crevasse for over 5 hours. It was recovered, in what must have been an amazing feat of engineering! Must try and see if Fuchs' and Hillary's account, 'The Crossing of Antarctica' is still available in print. Sounds like a good read!

WOW fantastic! I saw this over on FU-UK and really, really want one.
-
Sweeeet! I´ve always wanted one of those!
-
Wouldn't you know it?! I was in the process of scratchbuilding an early snow vehicle for our polar game last week and voilá, some miniature manufacturer does his mind reading thing...
-
I hate it when that happens. I spent ages the other week making some damn tedious head-swap conversions to a get a troop type that I wanted, only to read an announcement that a figure company is planning to release those very troops soon. >:(
-
A double edged sword, is it not, living in the Golden Era of Wargaming?
-
nice tracks....
-
this proves religion is more practical than hard work! why spend your afternoons scratchbuilding the most strange oddities... if some casting company listens to your prayers! lol
Take that Nietzsche! :D There is a god after all and he works with lead ... and some big resin bits!
ah! almost forgot -> the model looks really great! :)
-
Very cool vehicle. I think I'll order one.

Don't take that as a reason to stop scratchbuilding your vehicle! I want to see that Aerosan!
-
Really nice. And I can see all sort of possibilties. Just imagine switching the snowcat tracks for wheels or regular tank tracks? Legs too?
-
That is a great lookin' model! And I should know...We all use 'em up here in Canada...to get to our igloos after a hard day at the maple syrup factory.
...anyways...will make an excellent vehicle for an evil villan...once it gets some guns on it... :D

You got one with four tracks?! You lucky dog! This is what they stuck me with, to brave the wilds of Toronto!

This - again - is the main problem with this forum: I never even knew that I need one of these! >:(

Well, it's too late for interwar pulp, but will go nicely with the KKBB figs ;)
-
It's an odd enough design that if you dropped it into an inter-war setting, few people are going to bat an eye, I think.
-
Mark has a 10% off sale this weekend. To quote him on TMP -
'As some kind of relief (for me at least) from another of the U.K.'s dull, wet summers, I'm setting up a 10% off sale this weekend.
From Friday afternoon until Monday morning (UK time), you'll get 10% off anything you order if you enter the promotion code - rain - when prompted at checkout.'
Here's your chance! :D

This will also go brilliantly with the HLBS Great White North range - lots of arctic types on skis. Excellent model - I hope it's polar bear-proof!

No problem at the South Pole. May have to watch for penguin Commandos, though. :D

Gents,
I've added this to my list but has anyone seen it next to a pulp mini?
is it compatible with 28mm?

I'd certainly assume so, given that Copplestone has one of the best-known lines of pulp miniatures out there.
