Funnily enough someone has posted a pic of my minis before I did.. o_o
So here we go:

Those are super!
Love the reds and the bronze especially.
-
Very nice painting and basing for those, Suetonius. I agree that the bronze is especially nice looking. :-*
Cheers,
Scott

Ah, well it looks like I sent my compliment to the wrong thread so here it goes again...
Great paint job as always, fast too. I know you have painted up some of the Agema figures, any chance of seeing the victrix and agema side by side? I also don't recognize the shield transfers, who are they by?
Cheers
PS:I to love the bronze.
-
Excellent brushwork, very well done. :-*
Okay, horses for causes, but of any offering of plastic Romans I like these best so far. No overdone facial expression yet sweet 'improper' 28mm proportions. Spears are, as always, too thick for my liking, and some of the poses are typically 'pieces-stuck-together'-awkward. Overall, though, quite nice figures.
Well, final decision yet to be made – since, like on several occasions before, their good looks may be all down to SP's paintjobs. ;)
-
Thank you for your comments chaps :-)
They fit in well enough with Agema's lovely plastics.
In fact I'm sure I will do some kit bashing at some stage as I really fancy the kneeling Agema Triarii.
Weapons are a bit chunky but still within normal parameters especially when compared to many metals.
Some prefer thinner spears (as would I) but then people a whinging about them breaking all too easily.
Personally I like my figures not too animated so I am really happy with the poses available. My legionaries will have the velites in front of them so it would look odd on the battlefield if they would all be in hand to hand combat.
The transfers are Veni Vidi Vici, pretty basic. LBMS are much nicer but I confess to prefer waterslides, but this is probably just me..
More pictures soon!
Cheers

Really fine painting.
Based on your painting,
I ordered a couple of boxes.
Can't wait to see the figures.
-
Very nice work on these!
-
Very nice!
-
Well painted Suetonius Paullinus. :-* :-*
More please. :o
-
Excellent figures and great paint job. The Italian Allied Legions are now out, which makes the collecting of a Roman Army pretty easy. Just waiting for some plastic cavalry and Bobs your uncle! Vitrix Carthaginians look good. Can't wait.

The legion has a Signifer:

Very very well done! :-*
A fine unit!
-
Those are really, really nice. I can't sumberge myself in yet another project, though o_o
-
The new guys, well done.
I like them a lot.
I can see these troops going to the front of the painting line.
Will have to be careful,
I could have a mutiny on my hands with all the others in line to be painted. ;)

The first of the Allied Legion has joined in

like the allied legionere, are you going to mix up the colours for clothing in each unit?
-
I'm not too sure about the colours for the Allied legion as yet. The Stone Grey among other 'pastel' colours is what I had in mind for the Carthginians..will see.
I like my Romans and friends to wear Hollywood red. Different shield design though!

wow, looking great. You mentioned on Steve Dean forum that you use Vallejo Old Gold for your bronze, do you use the Liquid Gold, alcohol based paint or the model colour water based paint? If the Liquid Gold any problems using water bases washes/ink over it?
Cheers
-
Fantastic!
-
Thanks for your comments guys!
@fantail
I've used the water based Vallejo Model Colour. The alcohol based Liquid Gold, after it has dried, works with washes as well, but they dull it quite a bit and imho take away it's main advantage, the extreme shine.

Super! :-*
-
Thanks. Looking forward for more great figures.
-
Amazing painting job, these are looking very inspiring!
-
Thanks for the kind words gentlemen :)
I've opened the box of the legionaries in pectoral armour who will serve as Hastati.
The allied chap was issues a proper red military tunic. Made him feel more equal straightaway ;)

Two more great looking figures.
Am waiting for my two boxes to arrive.
-
I got my figures today.
I really like them. :-*
I messed up and did not order any shield transfers.
Better go and do that.
-
Glad you like them!
I'm looking forward to seeing your legionaries soon :-)

fantastic painting, will you build an army of these or are they for skirmish?, i will post up some of mine soon when i have
a unit finished

Are all of the shield designs Vini Vidi Vici transfers? i'm looking for options other than LBM transfers, which Victrix insist on charging £10 postage for.
-
Nope, I've swapped to LBMS..
Hmm, difficult one..
I'd contact Victrix about this, Steve and Julian are top chaps, maybe they can help..
Otherwise I'd try the LBMS website where you won't find Victrix transfers (conflict of interest?) but those:
http://www.littlebigmenstudios.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_55_57
Or
http://www.littlebigmenstudios.com/catalog/index.php?cPath=1_173_237
Slightly fiddly but with a little bit adjustment most will fit nicely ;-)
Postage is an extremely fair £1 for orders under £25, everything over is £4.50.
Much cheaper than the £10 you've suggested.
In any case, the Victrix LBMS transfers are worth every penny IMO, little works of art they are!
Cheers

Nice!

They look great! 8)

-
Never heard back from Victrix, so I decided to save money and do without the transfers...no evidence they are historically correct anyway.
-
I know Steve was/ is over in Berlin..maybe that's why?
But you're quit right, the shields' decoration is pure speculation so you can't go wrong either way.
Even a plain shield with some added battle damage can look the part!
Cheers
