Title: Flat or pitched roof
Post by: theoldschool on 16 August 2008, 10:27:45 PM
I am about to start a long delayed project to build some warehouses for my pulp games. Does anyone know if warehouse roofs in New York or Chicago were pitched or flat in the 1930s. Many thanks.

Don't know for sure but if they get as much snow down there as we get north of the Lakes, they're more than likely sloped.

Both work and were used, though the larger the building the more a pitch is needed to combat snow load. Flat roofs are more common in areas where there were height restrictions imposed by zoning while industrial areas allowed the more practical pitch.
