A workmate is selling some 200 GW LOTR figures in a carrying case, metal and plastic, some painted, most not, he is after £40, I am thinking of buying them to then sell on eBay in smaller lots.
Is this viable or has the market dropped off for this type of figure now?
Any advice appreciated.

Yes. a very good deal. the metal figures hold their value well- especially the unpainted. Plastic not so much, but I bet you will not loose money. and you get a figure case too- so that's a great deal.

I would say most of the metals will get you fair return: Fellowship less so than troop types (especially metal Orcs which always get good prices).
Plastics are difficult to get much out of though. All I can suggest there is don't make the lots too small.
For that price you certainly won't lose out, especially if you sell the case too.

Thanks gents, I will find out how many are metal and make my decision then, much obliged.

I doubt you could lose money...particularly if the case is nice. And if the friend can paint worth a poop..then you'll be even better off.
