... yet I aten't dead!
There’s a wargaming superstition that if you reach the bottom of your ‘lead mountain’ of unpainted figures, you’ll die. Well, I’ve been at the bottom of my lead mountain for a few weeks now, and I’m pleased to say that I’m still hale and hearty! (read more about this on my blog: http://arteis.wordpress.com/2014/09/27/i-should-be-dead/ (http://arteis.wordpress.com/2014/09/27/i-should-be-dead/))

Only one thing to do - buy more lead!!! lol As a wise man once told me, "You can never have enough Chinese". In your case, probably Maori. I know that I would certainly like to see more of your painting from the Maori Wars era.

Congratulations!

For the meantime...

Maybe your reaching the bottom of your lead mountain destroyed the world and we are now in some sort of afterlife completely mimicking what life would have been like if the world had carried on.
-
Not dead?
Cyborg spotted...
-
Or undead.
The Zombie apocalypse has begun !!!

What !? :o
Excellent news! :D
I have summoned the lead miners of Askaristan to the palace and informed them of the glad tidings! This is joyous news. They will be able to afford food once more! They have agreed to work double shifts to mine more lead and so replace the unfortunate shortage you find yourself in. We must all pull together and support you in the difficult times ahead until you once more are faced with foothills of shining metal waiting to be daubed.
Already a camel train is being packed and is making it's way to the foundries of your country. Soon the casting gnomes will be busily at work and brown paper parcels will begin to arrive at your home. I have asked them to include a book of excuses for you to use.
Do no fret my friend, all will soon be as it should be. Balance will be restored! So it is written, so it shall be done! o_o

Noooooo, quick have an impulse buy, pick up something random from ebay, search model shops for a kit or two ;D

PM me your address (I live in Oz),I'll send you some stuff and a LAF badge :)

Maybe he just reached the bottom because the pile grew so great that it collapsed on top of him.
-
Nah, there's a blister pack behind the wardrobe or a couple of figures down the back of the sofa that he's forgotten about. It's the only explanation.
-
What was under the lead pile?
-
What was under the lead pile?
??? :o
-
Well, I know that under my lead pile are the caverns of plastic sprues and the catacombs of resin... At least, I think so, been ages since I've seen them. Occasionally my lead miners bring up a casting or sprue or two.
Oh and Arteis, my uncle's lawyer will be contacting you shortly, all his pigs just flew off from his farm last week, he's seeking compensation. ;) lol

It's quite relaxing here at the bottom of the mountain. No more half-done projects making me feel guilty, no more boxes of new shiny lead urging me to get started.
And I guess maybe I am not technically exactly at the bottom of the lead mountain, as there are still some miscellaneous unpainted figures lying around my study. But these are ones that I've totally lost interest in, so will never ever paint, and therefore I can ignore them.
So now I can just relax from painting for a while - put my feet up, read, watch TV, catch up on things etc.
But, don't worry, as stated on my blog, this is just a temporary halt whilst I await new figures to be produced by either Minden Miniatures (Russian infantry - I've already signed up to their Kickstarter) or Empress Miniatures (any new colonial NZ Wars figures they might make - albeit there is nothing new on the horizon so far as I know, so this is just a hopeful wish for now).

That sounds wonderful... A shame I'll never get there.

Aha, life insurance... ;)

Time to build that pa roly :D

Ah ha, I see Perry Miniatures have released some British infantry who'll be perfect for the later colonial New Zealand Wars. I better get in fast before the New Zealand dollar continues going downhill.
-
That's what we all say ;) (doesn't stop us buying though lol )

I love that missing box. It's like Christmas. :)

That's why I hide all mine. Hide them well though you don't want your better half telling you where they are.
The only problem is finding what you are actually looking for!
-
I came across some Victorian train passengers from years back
Do you still need them (given they are 28mm)?
-
Michi - I am going to sell them but they are somewhere between 15 and 20mm scale. It is a shame as I have quite a few!
I bought them during a period when I was obsessed with trams and had dreams of a turn of the century layout.
I so understand your intention, but regretfully they´re to small for my needs. (Still obsessed with any sort of railway related stuff on my gaming table...)

Lead mountain reinstated ... I've just ordered some Perry British for my colonial New Zealand Wars project:

Sheesh, that was a close call... lol

Personally, I think he was blackmailing figure companies into producing stuff he wanted................
-
Praise be to the Lead God :D

Plumbum Vita Est !

I think if you look around your house closely you will find a figure hiding away....maybe some old locked drawer that hasn't seen light for a few years.......a dusty tomb enshrined in darkness wherein lies the saving of your soul......the lead God knows......no man can really be at the bottom of the pile.....the saying is one we know to be true..................
