Title: Very cheap corridor tile project
Post by: Vanvlak on 28 September 2014, 06:59:21 PM
I have always been after a cheap tiles system which you preferably do not have to cut to size. My aim was for 3" x 3" tiles (Deadzone size), but my solution is slightly smaller, with some tiles having a size of slightly less than this, others being rectangular but still close.
They can be used for Space Hulk (if you don't mind the tiles being larger than the spaces) or other stuff.

Apologies for the white background, not a good idea.

The tiles are coffee jug tops (and we consume litres of coffee here, so I have collected over 60 of these). The lower one seen at left is a powder compact case - I was lucky to get a box load of rejects from a local company. I added some bits to a few of these, a basecoat, and some weathering, details and decals, keeing it simple and fast. I plan to have some in yellow, black and grey, but red was the only spray I had available.
Given their appearance, I am thinking of using this on a blue surface as floating walkways - which means you can shoot across 'corridors', and cut loose sections to float away, and use boats and sea monsters..... :D

Yeah also they would look good on a black cloth as though they were floating in space!!

Specifially for Spacehulk 3D I am considering these:

They are about a square inch and can be built in 3 dimensions.

That's practical - is there a way of buying several identical blocks instead of a set?

Yes, you can buy buckets of identical blocks in one colour. They're about 14 cents apiece and can be found here

So an inch of corridor would set you back 42 cents and a 3x3 room with two exits would cost Euro 3,50.

That's brilliant - thanks.
