Making orchards and walls for 10mm (re-designing the orchards to be more functional by also being usable for roadside cover).

looking good...
a good substitute for your walls are the cork spacers used in laminate flooring

These come in long strips and are very flexible...
Hopefully the attached picture gives you an impression of the final result

I like those - does the cork form a 'core' like my cardboard or is the cork actually cut into to give it that stone effect?
-
Just nibbled the top and then painted...no stones, ballast or sand required

very neat, effective and looks great on-table without having to spend hours on work to get it right - a winner all-round.
Are the crop fields doormat offcuts?
-
And those cork strips have been on sale in Poundland.
(Although none in our local store last week)

Are the crop fields doormat offcuts?
I would guess so.
A note on crops, though:
Whereas those mats are nice for modern crops, most cereal crops were much taller back then. I have seen drawings and paintings showing reapers in fields of wheat taller than a man.
Doormats are still better than nothing though, but I would really like to find some with longer brittles. :)

They are indeed door mats...great for 10mm scale not so good for 28mm
