I Just posted up on my blog about a 28mm (1:56) Bedford QLD lorry I had 3D modeled and is now available to buy from Shapeways: http://jayswargamingmadness.blogspot.com/2014/10/28mm-bedford-qld-lorry.html (http://jayswargamingmadness.blogspot.com/2014/10/28mm-bedford-qld-lorry.html)
Some pics of the model:

Very nice, love the old Beddies. What else do you have planned?

Thanks! Not sure yet ... but I'll post when I figure it out :-)

impressive.
The only thing that scares me is the price... 40+ euros are quite a lot for a lorry... but the model is indeed impressive.

Yes, the drawback of 3D printing is that it is more costly than the mass produced or resin/plastic stuff. That being said, in this case there are no other options and hopefully you don't need more than 2-3.

I would say it depends on the model,
there are some good 28mm out of there (like the interwar earlyWW2 by Mpennock that are priced in a competitive way, other vehicles seems weird (ok there is a guy who asks 515€ for a Panzer I... o_o ).
I have not yet figured out how every price is derived, but I think that some kind of vehicles are cheaper than others; and that some designers are better in reducing prices than other. For example and 1:56 Type89 is cheaper than a 1:100 Type96G...
To be quite honest I was thinking an open topped vehicle would have bene cheaper, but maybe there is something else involved (maybe the way it has been designed and the effort involved, it is a highly detailed kit after all).
It could be interesting to see how much the price could change with a solid cab (after all the bulk of available trucks/utility in resin have solid cabs and I do not see if you can add a drive without cutting the roof and then fixing it again.
Ok too much "mumbling"; it is a great kit. I do not use lorries in 28mm because I play with realistic scale rulesets (evil stab at bolt Action), but it is a great addition to the range of available vehicles for HM forces in World War two and a little after.

to further my ramblings...
I just discovered that this almost finished week Shapeways increased the WSF prices... they actually tell people that it was a restructuring to lower the prices with saving up to 75% for customers... but almost everything I ma interested into has gone up... :o so probably your Bedford was supposed to cost less...

Price has dropped to $41.73 for me (not sure if that's AUD or USD).
-
Yeah, it was supposed to be cheaper but the price went up by sever all dollars ... sigh.

Still a very nice model...we battle the constant waves of folks abandoning the hobby to go to 1/72 plastic stuff...its an uphill battle, but the oldies are with us!
-
Actually, the real oldies started with 1/72 plastic stuff and 1/76 plastic stuff. You know, Airfix and the like. 28mm is, relatively speaking, the new kid on the block.
Lovely model btw. Would be nice to see what the print is like, the 3D stuff only tells one so much.

Agree, I used to have lots of 1/72 Bedords ... many moons ago. I've ordered 5 trucks for my British ... will post pictures up when they are painted up.
