For those who don't know, the Tanith First & Only are a light infantry regiment from the world of 40K. They wear black fatigues under "camo-cloaks", and are generally armed with laser rifles, flamers and missile launchers. They are generally slender, raggedy, independently-minded and fierce. They have a mix of bare, bereted and helmeted heads.
Does anyone know of any non-GW miniatures that fit this sort of aesthetic in either 15 or 28mm? Bonus points if said miniatures are carrying future guns that seem based on the SLR/FN FAL.
Any & all help greatly appreciated. If I knew how to make half decent cloaks I was considering the Denizen Miniatures space marines - cheap, cheerful and slender!

These may be well suited to what you would like :)

I was going to get some to use for the same type of army, well a small detachment anyway. They look quite good though :)
-
Ooh, very nice! I'd completely forgotten they existed! A little expensive though, especially for no heavy weapon options.
I will keep my eye on the range though, thank you :)
-
No problemo :)
They are a tad expensive but maybe contact the sculptor and see if she has plans to add heavy weapon alternatives to that squad variant? :)
-
Good plan. If I make a platoon, I like to have the whole thing sorted.

Great Gaunt and I cant remember the name of the guy who carried the massive gun but him too from brother vinnie.

The GW lot are still available too

If you find alternatives please post them here. I eventually want to do gaunts ghosts too. Got to much other stuff to be getting on with for the time being though.

For 28mm(ish) what about Copplestone Miniatures Future Wars Figures:
http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=FW (http://www.copplestonecastings.co.uk/range.php?range=FW) Their Military range might be suitable.
for 15mm what about Ground Zero Games;
Colonial Defence Force: http://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/index.php?_a=category&cat_id=135 (http://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/index.php?_a=category&cat_id=135)
Pan-African Union (PAU) http://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/index.php?_a=category&cat_id=136 (http://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/index.php?_a=category&cat_id=136)
Some of New Anglian Confederation (NAC) http://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/index.php?_a=category&cat_id=13 (http://shop.groundzerogames.co.uk/index.php?_a=category&cat_id=13) might be suitable.

I got lost on Copplestone's website for some time there! The female troopers were nice, but everyone else seemed a bit too bulky and armed with the traditional space-M16 - yes I know I'm picky ;)
GZG are one of my favourite firms in 15mm, and if I work out how to do capes a) nicely and b) quickly, I'll almost definitely be using them for the smaller scale force.
The Brother Vinni sculpts are lovely, but there are only two of them - as mentioned above, I want to try and get my whole platoon in one place. Granted, that has probably doomed this whole scheme to get caped men of the future onto the table. Same goes for those last six GW models (I swear there used to be more Tanith available?) :? Ah well, the search continues!

Try Again maybe? :D

I am sure there were including some females but they were discontinued.

That sentence didn't make the most sense did it.
I was saying their are two great tanith models from brother vinne. The commissar would make a good gaunt and the other model looks like a character from the books who carries a heavy weapon but for the life of me I can't remember his name.
-
Rebel Miniatures Sahadeen might fit the bill in 15mm. They've already got cloaks!

His name is "Try Again" Bragg. Because he misses and tries again!
The Sahadeen are a great idea! To my shame, I'd never thought of painting them in anything other than desert colours.

That's the one, thanks.

This isn´t quite what you are specifiying but they might be Worth a look. Its the Viridian from Scotia Grendel. They fit very good in size with GW Imperial guard miniatures.

That's a tough one. Finding troopers in cloaks the hard part. Lots of troops in greatcoats, but not so many capes.
As for Denizen miniatures, they are cool (I love their venaturans and Khiff), but they'd look pretty small next to GW and other contemporary 28mm figures.
Here's a ventauran and Khiff figures with a Grenadier Future Wars and Urban War Gladiator figures.

I don't know for sure, but I think the less-armored Marines are going to be roughly the size of the cloaked Khiff.
-
@Machinegunkelly: The Urban Mammoth snipers were cool, but quite pricey at £25 for 6.
@ eilif: You're right that they'd be small, but that's fine by me - they'll mostly be fighting Corporation Marines & 1st Corps Recon. Doesn't solve me being a crap hand at greenstuff though. Maybe I can get a friend to do them for me...

How about some of the above miniatures with these cloaks from Victoria? http://victoriaminiatures.highwire.com/product/camo-cloaks-x5 not much green stuff involved if any and cheaper than the earlier discussed price for a ten man squad?

You might want to look at Grant's Spectres (http://www.blightwheelminiatures.com/grants-spectre) from Blight Wheel.
-
@ eilif: You might be right, kitbashing may have to be the way forward.7
@ Hauptgefreiter: Interesting, but from the website I can't tell what they would look like assembled. I couldn't see a gallery when I poked around.
-
I've not seen any pics of them assembled, but here's a shot of some of their other figs:
they are wearing these capes
(http://images.jumpseller.com/store/blightwheelminiatures/42952/Capes.jpg)
Which are the same ones sold with the "Grant's Spectres".
Could be just the thing to make most any figs "Grant's Spectres.

There are some pics in the Blight Wheel Blog (http://blightwheelminiatures.blogspot.de/2012/10/arms-and-guns-for-grants-spectres.html); I linked a post here, maybe you will find more pictures there...

Thank you :)
They don't feel quite right to me - a little too stiff & Cadian maybe. Looking at his one-piece miniatures though, that guy has some serious chops!
