Stunning

Missed the boat on this, how much were they?

They were £25.

The effect is stunning, but you can only see them from the wall above, it was packed with people.

We also went to the Cenotaph in Westminster to see the RBL standing guard.

It was nice to see Britain commemmorating this.

Last month I felt privileged to see this:

Thanks for sharing your pics, especially of the poppies at the tower. I hope you don't mind but I've saved copies to put with mine when it arrives. Eventually I'd like to take mine to Flanders and leave it there at a graveside.

Wow, what a great idea.

I knew that my step-paternal grandfather had been in the Black Watch and lost an eye on the Western Front.

Unknown to me, my paternal grandmother had lost her twin brother in Gallipolli, this was never mentioned in the family until a couple of months ago.

The weather was very mild for this time of year, no rain and no wind, hardly needed the coat I took.

As for the poppy, I thought yours was the red one?

I went yesterday. It was breathtaking, well worth the trip even though there were engineering works on the District and Circles lines meaning we had to take a detour and walk. ::)

The travel chaos didn't seem to deter people as the crowds were enormous. It took a while to move to the front of the queue to see the view. But it was well worth it. :)

It is quite a sight, isn't it.  Someone had a wonderful brainwave there, and made nearly £20,000,000 for the RBL.

This is what they did in GCHQ, on the other side of my town.  Britain's version of the NSA.

My wife went up with the kids just after it was started, and we took them week before last.
A truly impressive sight.
