I had the "making of" Return of the Jedi as a kid and loved how these kits were built. The scout walker that was crushed by the logs in Jedi was a plastic kit tin plated and then acid poured in to remove the plastic so that it "crumpled" realistically. Lighting the ships internally caused problems because some plastic parts melted from the heat of the lamps.
For me, these models, and the paintings which formed the backdrops to some of the scenes in the first three films, were a lot more convincing than the green screen CGI of the follow ups.

Hmm, looks more like an M41 Walker Bulldog turret to me... Still after some conversion, it's hard to tell as many such things look fairly similar to start with! lol

Whatever it turns out to be, GREAT catch! Funny how they were kit bashing in the 70's for films and such, although I guess not terribly surprising. I'm glad you guys enjoyed this.

I remember hearing the tale of a guy who was carrying the Mil Falcon model and dropped it. It cost more than his house and couldn't be fixed, so they had to build another one.
