Hi All,
Okay my Martian Front games are going to be set in 1880 with 28mm figures so the humans need some 'period style' armour to fight the Martians infernal tripods, welcome the Cincinnati Steam Corporation...they have come up with the SPAW, the Steam Powered Armoured Wagon! Full details of this vehicle's 'history' will be included with my scenario descriptions when I get to them suffice to say at the moment this vehicle took its inspiration from the ACW ironclad the Monitor basically an armoured body with a circular turret just this one is on wagon wheels!
I have almost completed the first one it just needs its guns which will be two canons in the circular turret. The finish is supposed to represent lacquered steel, no need for camouflage when the troops alongside you have scarlet tunics, red trousers, spiked helmets with brass plates etc...
This is the Steam Powered Armoured Wagon Mark I sans guns (a 28mm Perry figure for size comparison):

Where do the horses go?
-
They look the part to me!

Big, brutal, cast iron. Looks very much like American Civil War equipment.

Hi All,
Thanks for the replies.
I have started detailing/completing the last four of the fourteen hulls. I've discovered creating unrealistic SF stuff is fun! :D
The two on the right here will be 'super' vehicles the front barbette will carry a 32lber there'll be cannons in the two side barbettes and also another cannon armed turret will be added to the roof. The two on the left will be fitted with flame throwers and cannons in side barbettes (yet to be added).

Gracious !! What tabletop force will have that many steam "tanks?"
-
Someone needs to do a VSF "tank wars" game! Would probably work better at smaller scale though. Command and Conquer age of steam, anyone?
-
Hi All,
Funny what you can do with a couple of extra days off during a week!
I have completed my Steam Powered Armoured Wagons and they're ready for some action, there are 14 in total in various versions...

Lovely brutes!
-
Fantastic !
-
Looking at the 'road', I have to ask, can they REALLY corner like that? lol lol lol
Gawd, that looks like fun!
Smoke? Isn't plastic cushion-batting good sprayed with black, and maybe a little red/yellow?
Now that you have SPAWs, shouldn't you be researching SPEWs? :D
