Were those fences/barricades made from matchsticks?

I remember building whole castles for my 1:72 napoleonics back in the early 80's (without using glue; imagine what happended when we touched the fortifications while handling the troops).

Yes, the snake rail fences were made from matchsticks, many moons ago!

This is a dangerous place... I have been drawn towards ACW wargaming ever since I got my first two little boxes of Airfix Union and Confederate Infantry, but I never really got started.....  Hmmm..lemme see.. how many figs do I have to paint to re-enact Gettysburgh in 25 mm scale...?... hmmm... probably too many, given my painting speed..... but, then again... hmmm... [mumble, mumble]

I like it! I want to play too!! Why are there so few 'real' wargamers in Denmark????

Your ACW game looks good. How won? Great looking table and scenery.

I too like the ACW period, but could find anyone to game, so I sold every thing on ebay.

You may be short on 'real' wargamers in Denmark, Argonor, but at least you have great painters, like this one:

If you are attracted to ACW, why not get about a dozen 25mm foot figures per side, and perhaps ten cavalry per side, and do some skirmishing encounters using wild west rules of whatever type.  You could make the scenarios adventurous:  scouting, foraging/looting encounters, interception of supply trains (railroads, wagons, or mules), rescues, bushwacking, etc.

You could get a nice Southern plantation house, a log cabin, some rail fences, a train, a tavern, a barn, and other bits of terrain that would be useable for several encounters in the South.

If you get some people excited about it because of some adventure type games, then maybe some gamers would join you in building a bigger collection and putting on bigger battles. Then you could get some cannons!

Nice terrain and miniatures. I often used photos of your terrain in Wargames Illustrated as inspiration for my own ACW gaming table, albeit at skirmish level in 15mm.

You may be right - it's actually the strategy I'm going to adopt to attract some Danes to the pulp era.... It just seems that all historical wargamers are concentrated around Copenhagen, while the rest of the country lies scattered with GW-gamers... (not that i resent GW.gamers, I play LotR myself - they just tend to be VERY difficult to get to try anything else...)

And, yeah, I've seen Jenova's paintjobs... why didn't I meet her first??  :wink:  - no, actually I'm quite content with my wife and our two daughters, but imagine having a wife who'd actually paint your minis for you  :lol:

I live in Murray Bridge which is about 80 - 100km east of Adelaide. I hope you enjoyed your visit :)
