Title: Pulp Alley at Hammerhead 28th Feb 2015
Post by: Chris Abbey on December 11, 2014, 10:20:13 AM
Any one planning to go to Hammerhead participation gaming show on 28th Feb 2015?

Ann & I will be there to run some Pulp Alley games on our Terra-Block terrain.
If anyone is interested in joining in, or indeed taking a slot to run a game on our terrain, please let me know.

Hammerhead is 28th February, so not that far away now.
Sally 4th will be running a Pulp Alley Participation game in the morning and afternoon.

We will be making some Ltd edition Pulp Alley 3" Burst Markers, similar to the ones we made for Poldercon, not sure whether Dave and Andrew from Statuesque can make a contribution to the goody bag, but I will drop them a line.

The plan is to run the games on our Terra-City One Terrain.

If you would like to book a place, please let me know.
Look forward to seeing some of you there.
I am planning to paint up a new faction for the show as well, so will keep the thread updated with my progress.

I am 90% certain of attendance so maybe best not to reserve me a place yet as I don't want to mess you about, thanks. If I go I'll definitely come and see your game early and if there are any spaces left on the day, I would like to join in.

Less than a week to go to Hammerhead now. I've been busy at the weekend building a dual carriageway supported on pillars to run across our Terra-City One board. We have also cut some ltd edition 3" burst templates and Dave has kindly donated some promo cards for participants. Let me know if you are able to attend and I'll reserve a place for you.

Trust M'Lud Snapwallah to have enough spirits aboard for all the wanna be attendees...

& should thirst raise it's ugly spectre,  he'll doubtless have trusty Old Scrotum nearby,
to serve the parched throngs of bystanders & spectators...

I said: "thRongs",  M'Lud, please calm yourself down...

This does quite look the bee's knees, would I could attend meowndamnself...

Best wishes, & good luck to all fortunate enough to attend & enjoy!!

He is, of course, a favourite functionary in aristocratic circles but it normally referred to as Scrotum, the Wrinkled Old Retainer....

Getting up to Derbyshire is normally a 4 hour drive for me, yesterday it was 6 hours (accident M5, congestion M42, roadwoks M1)! Still, I'm here now and will be making my way over to Newark in a while. It's going to be great!

That reminds me why I don't do any shows further north than Abingdon (on this Sunday, by the way) these days. Nevertheless, you're there now, hopefully attended by Scrotum, and as you say - it'll be great. Have a smashing game.

Looking at where you've hailed from - are you going to the Exeter show in May?

We did! I met Chris and his family, lovely people. Chris GM'd and Lewis (spelt right?) his son, helped the senile Snapcase to a semblance of understanding of what was going on!  lol

No photos until I get home tomorrow but this morning's game, which we all thoroughly enjoyed ended in an honourable  draw. My strategy was well thought out until I failed to open a filing cabinet (plot point) even though I think I had at least eight attempts at it!  :'( The Terra-Blocks were fantastic to play on, as you'll see from the photos. I shall definitely be buying some now.

Hammerhead was a great show and I'll post some photos of the other games on the events board.

Thanks to Chris for a hugely enjoyable game of Pulp Alley.  :-*

“Trouble at Mall”

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20029_zpsfgaaxkt0.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20029_zpsfgaaxkt0.jpg.html)

So here we were yesterday in Mega-City 1, courtesy of Chris Abbey. Judges versus two criminal gangs using Pulp Alley rules and the Terra-Block scenery from Sally 4th, which Chris produces.

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20024_zps35vanrsj.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20024_zps35vanrsj.jpg.html)

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20025_zpsxe2w2v3g.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20025_zpsxe2w2v3g.jpg.html)

This is Chris explaining the rules of Pulp Alley, there were two criminal leagues and a league of Judges. I, of course, was a criminal.

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20027_zpsunxw0uj7.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20027_zpsunxw0uj7.jpg.html)

One of my young opponents, playing the other criminal gang, being guided by his father, or was it the other way round?

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20028_zpshhvntdnk.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20028_zpshhvntdnk.jpg.html)

My Leader and Side-Kick attempt a plot-point safe but it moved up a floor due to shrewd card play from The Law! I got it in the end though. First and last success of the game! I sent the rest of the league to secure the next plot point, a filing cabinet.

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20030_zpsbv3nlqsk.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20030_zpsbv3nlqsk.jpg.html)

A Judge fires at a couple of perps trying to break into a vending machine (plot-point) down below.

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20031_zpslcavmhgj.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20031_zpslcavmhgj.jpg.html)

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20032_zpshbzjuary.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20032_zpshbzjuary.jpg.html)

The other gang attempts to break in through a window and I played a card which made it a perilous area for the rest of the game.

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20033_zpseh5bgmkz.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20033_zpseh5bgmkz.jpg.html)

In turn 5 I couldn’t get my Leader and Side-Kick to the next plot point due to the Judges having the audacity to fire at me! So my allies and followers tried the filing cabinet, passing the peril but failing the challenge, 4 times!

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20034_zpsbrgycp3n.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20034_zpsbrgycp3n.jpg.html)

In Turn 6 I tried the filing cabinet again. The allies and followers failed again to take the plot point and the game ended in an honourable draw. The Judges got a point for killing a ganger and the other criminal league managed a plot point in turn 6. There were big smiles all round as we had all thoroughly enjoyed the game with Chris and his son Lewis running it.

(http://i1352.photobucket.com/albums/q645/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20035_zpslj0tqeyl.jpg) (http://s1352.photobucket.com/user/Mad_Lord_Snapcase/media/Hammerhead%202015/Hammerhead%20-%20Pulp%20Alley/Hammerhead%20035_zpslj0tqeyl.jpg.html)

A big thank-you to Chris for a great game, it was great to meet you and have a chat. Thanks for the blast marker too. The Terra-Blocks are fantastic to play on and I am working out my order now! As always, the Pulp  Alley rules made the game speed along and it made for a great day out at Hammerhead. I shall post my pictures of the other games on the Events board and add a link here when I’ve had time to do it. A couple more photos below of the Terra-Blocks including Fothrington Hall which I shall definitely be buying.

Great set of photos, glad you enjoyed the game.
Unfortunately Pulp Alley promo cards got delayed in transit so we did not have any available at Hammerhead. We should have a good supply and we are scheduled to run Pulp Alley games and many more shows throughout the year. If you played at Hammerhead and would like one either send us a SAE or make a note on a Sally 4th order and we will happily send one out to you.

Glad you liked the raised dual carriageway. It does add a nice extra dimension to play. The raised walkways on 5cm square pillars are available now as part of the Terra-Block range, the dual carriageway is part of the Terra-City One, Wave two release and should be available some time next week. I will keep you posted.

We had a fantastic time running the Pulp Alley game, it was great to meet some of you and put names to faces, and as always Pulp Alley delivers the goods and provides fantastic entertainment for old and young alike.

Fightin' Dirty card arrived at Snapcase Hall today, Old Scrotum (the wrinkled and aged family retainer) has just brought the post in on a silver tray after discarding all bills into the waste bin!  lol

Thanks, Dave and Mila! The Phipps racing messenger Yak has been fed and cidered and is on his way back to you. Presumably American racing Yaks are not used to scrumpy as he seemed a trifle squiffy making his way down the drive from Snapcase Hall!  ;)

Another mail yak arrived at Snapcase Hall from Oklahoma today. Once again, thanks for the cards (Hostile and Helping Hand), Dave and Mila. :D I will be using them soon. Currently Old Scrotum is out in the stables pouring scrumpy into a rather large bowl so don't expect this yak back too soon (he might have to sleep it off!).

... Old Scrotum is out in the stables pouring ...

Old Scrotum??  In the Stables??
I didn't imagine he'd stoop so low.
Now I think on it, I can't imagine him able to do so, stoop that is.

Mrs. Beeton would be shocked.

Are things so bad in The Hall?

Stableboy R.U.N.N.O.F.T. with the milkmaid?

Had to sack the syce?

Or has the wrinkled family retainer so forgotten his august and elevated station
heading the household he disports himself with exotic foreign livestock?

Can't be merely a mark of respect to the Cartel Phipps, yak don't know & can't say.

Or is Old Scrotum sampling the scumpy on the sly?

Drunken domestics and domesticated baggage beasts, a heady brew indeed.

Ah, my friend, it's not like the old days at Snapcase Hall when you had a footman for each pair of shoes you owned (hence their title). Now we are lucky to have just the twenty or so underlings.

Unfortunately for Old Scrotum, he always stoops so low due to a permanent stoop! He does have a curious interest in yaks though, which is why I acceded to his request to tend to the Phipps messenger yak personally.

I suspect that he is more likely to be found guzzling my vintage port on the sly!  ;)

Things are going generally downhill and to the dogs here but I do have Maisie, my faithful understairs maid to console me and while away the wee hours, sitting on my knee.

My regards to your good self and Lily.
