Title: TBC's Outrider/Devil's Run Project: NEW Gasser
Post by: Too Bo Coo on 12 December 2014, 01:04:11 PM
I'm going to keep my 20mm ADE and Outrider projects seperate for now on.  To start things off, here is my first WIP.  Any guesses what I'm starting?

:D

I have a big commission I just started so not too much work on my own projects for a while.  But I was at Bart Smit today hunting for more cars for the job and came along this little beauty....   It seems to come apart nicely, so now to decide what faction it's for and if I should make it a 'tank' or a 'transporter'??? :D

Thanks Mate!  It's 20mm, so fits perfect.  In fact I plan to use my lead DF bikes for the game instead of the ones that came with it to add some variety and uniqueness.

Loving it from bumper to bumper.
Is it all one piece or did you add Grubbins?

Thanks Chaps!

Grimm, It is a one piece model but I added the diamond plate as well as the bolted metal on the fenders and some extra bolts here and there.  Got that bolt mold from Green Stuff World and wanted to try it out :D

Had to be one piece from the look of the front wheel protectors.
But where did the base model come from?
The "bolt mold" came in useful it seems.

Oh yes, the base model is a one piece item. I just added the card and bolts :D.  It's from the base Devil's Run game.  Great fun!

MFP regular patrol bikes. I'll use the LH cards for them. I've been waiting for the right reason to paint these up! Still need to clear coat and base, but basically done. I plan to use these for Devils Run, but really any PA game

And of course thank you for all the nice comments.  I find that I def do not paint cars the same way as I do with minis.  At this scale I find that between the base coat of paint and a ridiculously thick wash of sepia ink, it really brings the cars out.  Metallics I drybrush with three tones, and then hit them again with the mid-tone color after the wash.
Curious what you all do.

You have done some truly excellent work. I especially like the use of armor and screen protection. Can you tell me what scale your models are? I am thinking 20 MM from your initial post, but not sure. Also, are you using Hot Wheels cars as the starting point?

Again, VERY nicely done!

Hi Mates!  Thank you for all the supportive posts! I'm quite chuffed with how it all turned out :D.

As much as I would like to take credit for the snake, it's a decal...  I picked them up from a chap on ebay. Totally worth it!

I have larger scale models, but all of these are 20mm/1:64.  Cheap, abundant and super easy to convert with simple tools.  This car is a hotwheels, but I also use Jada, Greenlight, and any other make that fits well. My best suggestion, stick to mid-sized models for scale purposes.  They are the ones closest to 20mm.  If you get a HW Cooper Mini, it will fit 30mm better, and something like a firetruck or even an ambulance can look better at 15mm.
