Title: 5 Core - 5 Parsecs
Post by: cyagen on December 12, 2014, 02:07:22 PM
I compulsively bought the whole 5 Core package yesterday and I must say that I am impressed.

No stats, just D6, a very simple Moral system, I think I just found my WWWII, WWII, Modern and Future skirmish system.

As a Squad Leader fan, I love the fact that you do not need to kill every figure to win, just pin or break them!

I now have to buy some cheap figs and give the system a trial.

Very interesting.  Where might one find these rules?

And I forgot to mention one of the nicest point about the game: defensive fire phase! They move in the LOS of one of soldier and he can fire at them!

That actually looks pretty interesting. Thanks for the heads up; I think I might give it a whirl... 8)

The combination of the Painting Club and the arrival of my Salvage Crew kickstarter has gotten me thinking about sci-fi again lately.  I bought the 5 Core/5 parsec bundle yesterday, and I'm really looking forward to trying it out.

We just played our first game of Five Parsecs the other day.  It's a very different style of game than we're used to.  About half way through the game things finally started to 'click', though.  It's definitely more a game of positioning and 'pushing' your opponents figures around using the morale rules than it is one of trying to knock out one figure at a time.  We're looking forward to giving it another shot.
