This is a 28mm Panther painted to represent one of 21st Panzer Divisions surviving tanks after the end of Operation Nordwind. The white winter camouflage has been dirtied and removed during combat operations.
The scheme is inspired by these 21st Panzer Panthers photographed near the Hagenau Forest in January 1945.

Rubicon 1/56th Panther Ausf. G... have to say, dont like working in 28mm, I find it really hard work and im a little dissapointed with the end result. Looking forward to some more civilised 20mm vehicles!

:-* Utterly lovely! You have mastered the realistic look!
-
I'd be very happy with that, you've done a great job 8)
cheers
James

This is the very best Panther I´ve seen so far, Piers! I´d conquer Ireland with a couple of tank divisions to get hold of it...
-
Stunning work :o Specially for someone who says who doesn't like to work on 28mm! lol
-
Superb

Brilliant job :-* 8)

Wow :-*
Now that's weathering.
-
Now thats excellent :o

You're selling yourself short, Piers. That's a real stunner!
What is it you didn't like? The difficulty (i.e. you got to the same place in the end, but it was much more work to get there), or is there actually something you think was pulled off less well?
Because this looks as good as your 20mm work to us, maybe even better. I suspect you may be being too hard on yourself.

A truly outstanding piece of work.

Perhaps Fram.
It just didnt come out how I wished.
I think it maybe the kit, I kinda took a little dislike to it due to bits like the slim barrel and missing tow rope. Or it might be that 28mm just isnt a size that works for WW2 for me. It wasnt so much the work just I lost the enjoyment during it. Dunno if that makes sense!

Sure, that's fine. In any case, I think the rest of us find the results excellent.

Did you ever paint this camo scheme on 20mm models too? I really like it! 8)
-
Great Job Piers.
One of your very best for sure
-
Excellent work! A shame you don't enjoy the 28mm stuff as I would love to see more of your work in this scale. :)
-
Lovely kitty and the Ausf G is my favourite - certainly an unusual but very striking winter camo. Agree that 28mm just does not work for WWII but each to thier own.
-
Nice piece of 28mm work.
-
Don't beat yourself up - this tank is nicely done.
-
Really good, not your very best (I have seen other stuff from you I think are even better :D ), but for good sake... this is a subject for summer, not for winter it makes me freezing even more! lol
Keep up the good work!

Looks really good.
