I'd say it is a fair deal. You'd have a hard time getting all of that for less and most of it could be used together in a Mordor force.

That said, it's a lot of money and most of the stuff is still in print, so you might be happier picking and choosing specific stuff you want if you are spending that much...

(An Elf will answer both 'yes' and 'no').

What rules are you planning on using?

For the original GW LOTR Strategy Battle game that set is much too large and for the same €€ you should be able to field 4 or 5 different SBG sized forces.  Same will apply to other skirmish based systems.

For Mass battle games such as the GW War of the Ring (or Impetus Fantasy and Mayhem for example) you have a good Mordor force with some options on units, plus the bonus of a mixed "Fallen Kingdoms" Infantry contingent. Then the duplicates and the last few items you list which are insufficient for units can be eBay'd.

Thanks for the responses and advice.  I'm pretty sure I'm really interested in the skirmish end, but thought if this was a good enough bargain, it still might be worth it.  But I'm thinking not then....

Looks like a good deal that said and as mentionned  above it's a large sum to pay in one time. The catapult + troll, go for around €40.00 each, the siege bows around €10.00 each, so that's already €100.00. Metal wargs/ mounted ringwraiths go for around €2.50 or €5.00 depending on your luck... The box of umbar/ haradrim are easily worth €40.00 now GW has decided to only sell them per 12 and at the same price as before!

Buying that lot would enable to field a mighty mordor army that's a certainty!

106 orcs would certainly enable you to field a good army for several systems!

Check the figures first.

LotR figures, especially the plastic ones, are pretty delicate and ones being sold used are very often broken.

Typically the weapons, especially spears, are damaged by improper handling and storing.
