Well its been many a year since i painted any lotr stuff but with a chance of getting the wife interested in wargaming i thought i would have another go.
-
A couple of test paints for the orcs
-
Very nice, and it's encouraging to see that some people are coming back to LotR. I still can't get past those orc swords, though - they look like huge tomato knives.
Keep 'em coming.
-
Nice work.
:)
Are Bilbo and Thorin both finecast? and are the Orcs from the plastic Hunter Orcs set?
-
Yeah, bilbo and thorin are finecast. First time i have ever painted finecast and took some getting used to. Orcs are from the hunters box set. I was unsure about getting back into hobbity/lotr because of price, but i have a large lead pile of historicals and wanted to treat myself to this stuff before they get discontinued.
Elves up next then Bolg and Legolas
-
Elves test paint done, time to get on with the rest of the orcs and elves
-
Good luck with getting your wife involved in the hobby! These paint jobs and minis should be a great hook.
Great work and looking forward to more!

Thanks for the replies, I am enjoying this excursion away from historicals at the moment,
just got to find out what colour to do Bolgs skin!
-
Four more orcs done. Slowly but getting there
-
Finished Bolg on warg. Found it a struggle with the skin and i am really not sure about finecast. Give me plastics or metal any day
-
Got the orcs finished.
-
Very sharp-looking. I like the white face-paint.
-
Bolg and companions
-
Got some more elves done today. Not many more to go now
-
Great painting work, really nice.
But those miniatures are not of the same quality as the first ones (like this trilogy compared with the first one, I think), IMHO.
-
I agree, they are not as good a sculpts as the lotr ones, but still a pleasure to paint. Still strugling to glue the finecast stuff together though, to many parts
