Title: HELP I've Been Murch'd!
Post by: OLeary on 16 January 2015, 07:07:59 AM
Recently someone anonymously gifted me with some of Bob Murch's fine Pulp Figures.  I have of course seen many of his figures painted, but never had any of my own.  Well now I had The Hired Guns, the Jazz Quartet and a Native American in my hands. Fingers itching with anticipation, I began laying brush to three of the Hired Guns.  By the time I got done, it was too late, I'd been Murch'd!  Yes folks, I'm now addicted and let me tell you, it's going to cost my husband lots of money to feed this new addiction.

I sculpted the bases myself using Super Sculpey.

Yes, I am aware that the barrel of that Tommy Gun is bent.

I've painted these as part of Curt's Annual Analogue Hobbies Painting Challenge and am going to have the Jazz Quartet done by end of February.  After the Challenge is finished in March I'm going to buy the New Version of the Film Crew, Rugged Heroes, Scientific Masterminds,  Drawing Room Detectives, Dr. Prometheus and his Death Ray and Dr. Prometheus' Electro Laboratory. That's only six packs so I'll need to decide on three more so I can get two packs free.

I think those will end up giving me a pretty good start on my new addiction.

Thank you for looking.

Lovely painting, and the photography is very atmospheric.

I agree, I´ve painted dozens of Bob Murch miniatures and the won´t let you lay down the brush. Your work on the mobsters is well done!

Finding your niche in the craft is TERRIFIC. I'm sure Himself won't mind parting with a couple of bucks to see you happy. The Gangsters look like they just stepped out of a Cagney Flick.  The brushwork & color choices are as always OUTSTANDING; AND the brickwork bases look WONDERFUL. VERY WELL DONE!

Nice work. Mr Murch deserves support and completion of figures like that. I wish I could get similar results with my bases.

Great painting work. The figures are full of character and the bases are fantastic! Bob Murch is a very dangerous influence for many of us!  lol lol lol

Annie, I haven't seen much of your work on TMP lately, so it is real nice to see it on LAF.

Nice work! The shading is spot-on!  :-*

I've yet to buy any Murch figurines. I'm sure I will set foot on the top of that slippery slope one day.  lol

I've heard that there is an ointment that will clear the Murches right up, but everyone who has gotten the itch has decided to forgo the treatment.

This is how I work him. I feed him lasagna, wait a few days then tell him I'd like to buy some mini's. Then I lie and tell him I'm only going to spend about seventy bucks and then I sort of double that amount. By the time he sees the account, it's ttoo late. I've got my mini's!

Very lovely paintwork, OLeary, your smooth painting style fits them well

Thanks Prof!

Dahlink you know how moi loves Pulp. It's the best thing to happen to me since I've begun painting. I've not bought any new mini's for a while so I'm actually due a big spree.

I don't post much anywhere. Occaisionally I'll post here and on Reaper, but that's about it.  I paint more now than I ever did before though.  It's nice seeing you!

I've heard that there is an ointment that will clear the Murches right up, but everyone who has gotten the itch has decided to forgo the treatment.

I'm not taking the cure either. The itch just feels so good and I'm going to scratch it until my bank account bleeds red.

That´s the exact way to pile a lead mountain like most of us did start decades ago... :D

Bob's stuff is always quick and easy to paint, and the results usually end up looking great (as you've shown here). Another great thing about Pulp Figures is that they are VERY cost effective. By the time you spend that 70 dollars, you'll probably be getting another three or four packs for free models in your order.

Nice work, lovely as always.  I'm a big fan of Bob Murch's work myself, mostly out of nostalgia for his Call of Cthulhu figs from RAFM.

Really need to get back into the habit of reading your blog more regularly.

The Murching can make one a bit tender.  Nothing a soothing paint balm can't  fix!

Great paintjob!

The usual palliative care for a case of Murching is... more Murch.

One of those cases of the "illness" and the cure being one and the same.

Which reminds me, I should actually finish the last batch of Murch goodness I ordered. I started some of them last February, I should maybe try to have them finished and on the table by the end of this Feb...

This describes a typical case of severe addiction.
