Fed up with waiting for the "build it something contest" to start I decided to crack on with my next project for the Egyptian Adventures/Lost World/Pulp projects...this would be my take on the tramp steamer.
I have already posted part 1 on the blog...which of course will take you to part 2

Great looking job Eric. I need to build one of those myself, and your step-by-step instructions are really helpful Thanks for the ideas and inspiration.

That is shaping very nicely! I'm having tramp steamer envy again... I do NOT have space or time to build (or store...) a reasonable sized tramp steamer, dammit!

Very nice.

I add the ridges to the hull and give the boat its first coat of paint

The use of cord (1mm or something similar, I'm guessing?) and tape is inspired.
I've used masking tape as tarpaper on roofs and other surfaces before, but using it as texture on painted metal hadn't occurred to me.
Looking forward to the next progress report!

So simple and yet so effective! Thanks for posting this :)

Off now to carry on building volcanoes....

Ace work!
-
Salty!!
I really like what you've hatched!!
Her proportions are so natural, ever so much more a ship, than a gaming piece of scenery.
You, Sir, set the bar VERY high indeed.
Might I suggest bow anchors port & starboard? She seems of a size to warrant same.
Any chance we'll see mastage & boomifications soon?
Valerik
Master Mariner merely in his own mind's eye, but does have the hats for the role!

Outstanding build so far. Very nice work Mr. the shed! Now it needs to be mounted on the volcano possibly with dinosaurs and lasers! :D
Snitchy sends.
