Hi all! Newcomer to IHMN here.
A while back, I grabbed a handful of these guys on sale at my LGS, with no particular plans for them, but just because they're cool minis:

I have three rifles, three SMGs, one LMG, a grappling hook gun, and the captain.
Has anyone statted these guys up as an IHMN company? I realize some of the weaponry is probably a bit advanced for the period, I was considering treating the SMGs as either shotguns (close-range spread) or carbines.
And what about that grappling hook gun? One idea was to leave the rope off, and treat it as an arc weapon (the three prongs could be there to channel the electricity or somesuch), but the grappling hook does seem very in-character for a band of pirates, so I'm a bit reluctant to ditch it...
Anyways, I felt like these minis were just too cool to pass up, and even though they're a bit ahead of their time, I'm excited to get the ball rolling on IHMN and have them in hand and ready to go, so I'm interested to hear other people's thoughts!

I may be working on something Abney Park related...

I think they'd work perfectly for an IHMN company!

This could be a Steampunk Revolution :D

Cool, idea I've always loved those minis but never found a use for them. Let me try and give some input
SMGs: How about going for carbine stats, low range, maybe with a slightly higher SV bonus to represent the greater rate of fire? It'd be easy to explan as some sort of experimental weapon, anyone with access to reliable aircraft and sky pirates should be able to make/acquire military grade super weapons like that.
Grapling hook: It doesn't actually hurt the target model, but can knock them down, representing the models being hot and trying to get the hook off? With a little work you could also use it for letting the pirates swing over chasms and move directly up or down using the hook.
And I'd say they fit right in. Do remember that Verne and Wells both wrote on air warfare and piracy :)

Pulp Figures "Gyro Raiders" might work for this too:

Thanks for the ideas! Those Gyro Raiders definitely fit the bill, too. Nice options for expanding the crew. Gonna start working on putting some stats together, we'll see what I come up with.

I like the figures, but the preoccupation with SMGs rather put me off.
Doesn't quite feel like IHMN to me

Yeah they seem more like 1930s pulp in the Crimson Skies vein rather than Victorian. I had the same problem with the Thrilling Tales Russian figs which are all armed with PPSH MGs. Have you looked at Pulp Alley? My mantra has always been "if you have to create new rules for a system it may not be the right system." ;)

Lol, that might be because they were sculpted to be 1930's Pulp figures ;)
I agree with that Mantra.

Sure, they're more pulp than Victorian, but this isn't a proper historical game, either, so I'm not too miffed about strict adherence to period-appropriateness.
In a VSF/Steampunk game with all kinds of experimental and advanced tech, and that already accommodates real-world guns that are ahead of the period (Vickers, Mauser), I'm ok with SMGs.

Even when the game gives players the tools they need to create their own characters and weapons, and encourages them to do so?
