Title: Painting Imperial Assault
Post by: sean_68333 on January 28, 2015, 11:27:10 PM
I picked up a copy of the Star Wars: Imperial Assault board game.  The models are very impressive and I can't help but paint them.

My first is one of the Probe Droids.

This is a pretty basic paint job.  Black primer.  Dry brushed dark grey.  Dry brushed light grey.  Picked out a few details to add a bit of color.

Next up is another Probe Droid (there are 3 in the box) and a group of 3 Storm Troopers.

I will post updates here and on my blog as I progress.  http://gamingandshooting.blogspot.com/2015/01/star-wars-imperial-assault-probe-droid.html (http://gamingandshooting.blogspot.com/2015/01/star-wars-imperial-assault-probe-droid.html)

And *I* look forward to seeing them on the table.

Advantage, continent, country, city... mine.  lol

Very nice start, Sean.

I promised myself not to be interested until Armada showed, but...

Thanks Doug.  I'm not sure I'm going be interested in Armada.  The models look very nice, but the game play I have seen seems a bit more fiddly than I want.  I might end up getting a few models though.

Next up is a Storm Trooper.  I painted this using a technique that I have never used before.  I didn't like it at first, but after using it in a game, it is starting to grow on me.

More pictures and the details of how I painted this can be found on my blog.  http://gamingandshooting.blogspot.com/2015/02/star-wars-imperial-assault-storm-trooper.html (http://gamingandshooting.blogspot.com/2015/02/star-wars-imperial-assault-storm-trooper.html)

Have I been living in a very deep hole cause I know not of this game you speak of and I am a BIG Star Wars fan. Nice brush work. Look forward to some more minis porn.

Those were the droids I was looking for! Doh.

I'm glad you like the painting.  The game is called Star Wars Imperial Assault.  It is published by Fantasy Flight Games.  I have played it several times and have really been enjoying it.  It is a bit on the pricey side, but there are a good number of models and they look very nice, so IMHO it is worth the cost.

Ah right I've gotcha. I didn't know Fantasy Flight had produced it. I know with the licence they were planing to expand form X-wing but it was a while ago when I read about it. I thought it was by West End Games and long out of production. Guess what I'll be buying this weekend.

The force is strong with this one.
How strong?
Er.... As strong as a small pony!
Oh that quite strong.

I haven't worked on the Imperial Assault models for a while, but I needed a little break from Epic 40k.

First up was Gaarkan.

Next up was a batch of Royal Guard.

Nothing fancy here, but I think they look nice on the table.

Now back to Epic models, but I'm sure more of these will sneak onto my paint table soon.

Nice work on the figures and I like how the stormtrooper came out. I have the same set and I'm not looking forward to painting them as white is tricky, but you have pulled it off.
