Title: Fantasy creatures mold
Post by: blackstone on September 18, 2008, 02:19:35 PM
Last year I spent some time making lots of molds so I could cast my own dungeon for RPG. Along the way I also made a mold of a load of critters I sculpted so I could cast hundreds of creatures in dental plaster. Here's a photo of the cast figures once based and painted!

The first picture shows the ten critters that can be cast from the mold!

I've around 10 of these molds which I'm making available anyone interested send me a PM.

Comments welcomed!!!

Very interesting. They're a bit too 'familiar ground' though, otherwise I'd be all over these. Can't wait to see some pictures of these critters in their natural environment.

Fantastic sculpting work, like the big rat and the toad most!

Very nicely done. I think I've seen these somewhere before.

These would also be very useful for populating jungles in SF/VSF games.

It's always fun to have weird beasties jumping out at inconvenient moments  :)

Thanks for the PM's I'll reply to each this weekend.

Here's a couple more pictures which should answer a few questions.

This is what a mold looks like...

and a picture of some cast models straight out of the mold. They are on a baking tray because they need to go in an oven to completely dry them out before basing and painting.

btw they are cast in Herculite plaster of paris.

I could be very interested, possibly depending on creature size.

But they do look very good and very useful for SF/VSF/Pulp.
Anything with a laboratory or jungle setting.

Dr Who, Starship Troopers, Cthulhu,......

I'm sure blackstone can answer better, but having received my mold earlier in the week, the creatures are giant sized for 28mm, which is to say, idea for a D&D dungeon adventure, or SF/VSF/Lost World/etc.   lol
