This is the latest unit off my workbench The British Legion Cavalry otherwise known as Tarleton's raiders for my AWI collection.

Nice job.
Controversial? Only if you believe the propaganda ;)

Thanks guys. :)
Controversial?
Absolutely.
Only if you believe the propaganda
Pretty dismissive statement and leaves little doubt where your opinion is which of course is your entitlement.
I have a more balanced opinion I believe that can be read on my blog if your interested.

Excellent work. I see you've gone for lighter bases on your more recent AWI stuff.

Thank you and yes I did. I decided I needed a bit more flexibility and lightened the bases up from the darker muddy tone. I thought about even lighter, but decided to go with this more neutral tone.

I think you've got it pretty much spot on, here. To be fair, your "dark mud" bases confounded the conventional wisdom about basing needing to be lighter than the figures, and actually worked very well (thinking of the riflemen especially).
Keep up the good work!

Great painting !!
I do wonder why gamers base their beautifully painted figures on those thick bases, that make the figures rise above the groundwork.
It looks so unnatural and ruins the effect of the wonderful painting.
I prefer thin metal bases that blend right into the terrain and are indistinguishable from the groundwork.
Just my personal opinion.
