Title: 28mm Soviet-Afghan War DRA figures?
Post by: Happy Wanderer on 11 February 2015, 12:42:17 PM
Gents,

We know that the Mongrel Miniatures Afghan National Army (DRA) are no longer available...sadly.

Eureka do post 2000+ Afghan Police so they are not quite right....

So, does anyone have any ideas of suitable figures for early 1980s era DRA Afghans?

Cheers

Nope that's about the strength of it in 28mm. If you want proxies then some of the Eureka ZANLA in caps will work. If you can be bothered filing back the rolled sleeves and adding long sleeves with putty then they would work very well for the summer uniform.

Head swops on to Cold war soviets with AKs and WW2 Soviets with Ppsh41's in great coats? Adjust the boots to the appropriate ankle boot and puttee using green stuff, and turn a blind eye to incosistancies in the webbing and you could have some Winter uniform DRA. The only issue is, I'm not sure what head you would use to 'swop on' to give the DRA look....

Thanks guys,

Excellent ideas and ZANLA suitably adjusted would indeed make good summer dress DRA ;)
