Title: Painted Pulp Pictures Photograghed...(lots of pics!)
Post by: Chambersofminiatures on 22 September 2008, 05:05:17 AM
Hello all. I attended the Recruits convention in Lees Summit, MO last weekend and met up with UncleRhino and cwchmc (Ryan and Chuck) to play some Rattrap games. Great time and I recommend the convention highly.

Anyway... I was able to pick up some Foundry Darkest Africa miniatures for a $1.00 USD each. This weekend I decided to paint them up and not let them rot on the mountain of lead that I am hoarding.

Along with the Foundry minis, I painted up a Reaper miniature rescued for the hoard. Unfortunately the sword broke off during the clean up stage. I decided that the miniature need a huge unwieldy two hander instead. Please forgive my novice attempt to create a weapon with brass rod. I look at it as crude but effective. :D

Thanks for looking. Sorry if there are too many pics. Just let me know if I need to pare it down.

Patrick Chambers

The swordsman is cracking. Love his sash.
Very nice work on all of them. A beautiful little set. Do you have more to add?

There are never too many pics with this standart of painting. Way to go. And if you hadn't told us about the sword, I never would have guessed! Good job!

Thanks all for the kind comments Pulp and Scifi miniatures are at the panting cue lately.

I choose a limited pallet for the group of adventures. It makes is easier to paint several minis is a shot amount of time.

I assumed that the "Belgian officer" was a native because of the bare feet.

The arab swordsman was fun to do, I will need to find more. I was stumped for the colors, so I choose subtle colors (as usual) but added a little color with the sash.

Hopefully more to!

Great looking figures. I'm glad I was able to sell them to you. You've done a great job on them and very quickly. Looks like they went to a very nice home. Next Recruits introduce yourself or maybe we've already met. I'll be back at the next Recruits. I agree whole heartly, if you can make it to Recruits, it's worth your time.

Dear Chambersofminiatures,
I thought that the above picture is a conversion of the Belgian officer, who is the only one carrying the helmet by the side.
Now I realised that this is not true.
I tried to locate this figure in the Foundry catalogue, but I could not. Maybe is my bad eyesight, so, is it possible to pint me to the right direction?

argsilverson, I tried to find the miniature on the Foundry site and was unable to find it too. Maybe VSF Gamer sold me a "limited edition" foundry miniature. It should be would a goldmine...right... lol

I picked up several of that figure in Ebay buys. Seems to be uniformed but bare footed. Aide de camp?

Terrific work Pat, simply terrific.  You know, I really enjoy gaming with you and Chuck, but you two are painters way out of my league, it is rather discouraging at times.  It would be one thing if you guys were as talented as you are BUT you painted very, very slowly...but that is not the case.

Ah well, I will get back to the brush soon enough, after the Recruits flurry of activity, I am enjoying just not working on things and figuring out what the Spring Recruits game will be...so I can start painting soon.

I thought that the miniatures that you had on the game board at recruits looked great and inspired me to paint the swordsman in this post. I look forward to more games. I think that Chuck is putting on another game mid October.
