Hey guys thought I should show my last d&d project the Arachnid Lair. Its actually going out to one lucky winner in April to whoever supported DM Scotty the most via patreon at the end of March. But hope it sparks something for this group. Its almost complete. Enjoy and thanks for looking.

Damn that's creepy. Well made sir, and it's good seeing you here on the forum.
-
Very nice work on that. Is it hot glue?
-
I love it. It's insane though; both the build and any adventurering party thinking it'd be a good idea to enter that lair!
-
Cool idea! Need a bucket load of spiders now!! Or evil ooze making slugs.
Is that all hot glue? o_o
Cheers
Matt
-
Wow, really amazing! :o
-
Thanks guys. Hot glue, cotton balls, q-tips, rubble flock and some skeleton bits was all I used.
-
:o Sweet work! I wouldn't doubt that those webs would cause a movement penalty, or possibly a buff as the party does the 'I just walked through a spiderweb' dance. The coverage is fantastic!
-
They do cause difficult terrain :p
I wrote a bare bones module for it. Still a WIP but it is coming along.
-
Nice work.
Very innovative.

What a great idea! :-*
-
Nice details on the webbing and skulls - definitely a creepy scenario setting!! :o
-
lol
Skulls were made with a mold like this. Easy to make. I built a throne of skulls using this piece.

-
Yuck! How many hot glue sticks did you use? o_o
-
I think it was under 5 a tile. The borders are what eat up all the glue.
-
That is a WONDERFULLY imaginative creation. It has a delightfully creepy atmosphere that perfectly suit the denizens. VERY WELL DONE!
-
Thanks everyone I post frequently over at the dmscraft pro boards and post most my work up there. One trick to get nice looking web strands is to build up the wall edges first then unplug the glue gun and let it cool for a min then go from edge to edge making the strands like crazy. It should keep them from going flat. If it gets to cold to push the glue out just plug it back in again and repeat.

Other projects if anyone is interested are my 2.5 next hotglue cave walls, bigbys icy grasp(holds a mini), and my swamps of sorrow are my best works IMO. Let me know and I'll post them as well.

After seeing your spider caves I was disappointed I wasn't using any spider encounters. Then I remembered I control this campaign. So if I want a spider cave, I can have one. Consider me inspired, and the players in trouble. (I have a serious fear of spiders, so whenever they show up, I make sure to Sharpe my fears.)
-
That is really great. :o
-
If you end up trying to make some of these let me know I'd love to see your take on it. Here is another pic. Couldn't see the skellys painted in the other one.

Really good! The whole thing is amazingly effective.

Yes please!

I second that request. We most definitely need to see more of your work on LAF.
-
Very cool - and convincing.
-
Marvellous! I'll have to link to this thread from my blog (I'll make a 'Build Something' page with links to interesting Projects, so I can go back and get inspired whenever I need to ;) ).
-
Thank you for the kind words everyone. I am sad to see the set go never being played on :'( but its for a good cause and oh well makes room for more terrain!
-
Inspired! And excellent execution of the idea too. Well done sir.
-
This is spectacular! A wonderfully creepy piece of scenery.
-
i think I'm going to use hot glue for my "Build Something" project.
-
Painted in a different color, that method would work very well with an alien nest too.
It looks quite awesome :)

9/10 complete

i think I'm going to use hot glue for my "Build Something" project.
If you're trying for a similar "webbing" effect, you might be able to do it cheaper by using expanding insulation foam, the kind model railroaders used to sell as the "Mountains in Minutes" brand. If you poke and drag the stuff as it starts expanding it produces a very similar look, although it takes some practice to get down pat. Cheaper than hot glue for larger projects, and quite a bit lighter too. Maybe not quite as durable, but partially-collapsed expanding foam is tougher than you'd expect.
-
Very nice overall effect! :)
-
FANTASTIC! Your creation has a WONDERFULLY creepy felling to it. VERY IMAGINATIVELY WELL DONE!
-
Keep it up. These are great!
