Which film is it that has the excellent footage of the lines of British Infantry and cannon destroying the charge of the Mahdi's believers? I thought it was Heston Charlton's Khartoum, so bought it, and it isn't. Now I'm leaning toward 'Storm Over the Nile'... anyone help?

The 1939 Korda production of The Four Feathers
it's the best version of that movie, re-uses battle footage from the silent production which used actual Mahdist veterans of the battle to recreate the charge.

Thanks James.

Also Young Winston has a beautiful scene of British and Egyptian guns putting the hurt on the Mahdists.Plus the cavalry charge by the Lancers at Omdurmann.

And then there's a scene in an episode of Dad's Army 'The two and a half feathers' ......hope you include Corporal (Private back then) Jones amongst your troops :D

Once can dream but I'd love to see a modern version of the Battle of Omdurman on film..... as I say, it will probably never happen in any kind of detail.
